The National Eligibility and Entrance Test (NEET) and other competitive exams will not be administered at coaching institutes for the next two months, according to instructions issued by the Kota administration on Sunday. Click here to know more!
New Delhi: The Rajasthan government mandates that the coaching centres operating in the district provide their students a half-day on Wednesday and a required weekly holiday on Sunday.
Following a virtual conference presided over by the secretary of the state department of higher and technical education, the government approved the decree. The directive made it clear that new exams would be held on Sunday in the district's coaching facilities.
Additionally, it was announced that on Wednesdays during the half-day, the institutes would be required to host enjoyable events like magic shows, singing lessons, wellness centre sessions, and others.
The instructions have been issued to ensure the students studying in Kota's social, psychological, and emotional wellbeing. Additionally, the coaching centres have been told not to administer any exams for the ensuing two months. The institutes are responsible for ensuring adherence to this directive.
In order to increase the pupils' self-confidence, the administration must also see to it that inspirational posters are hung around the classrooms and speeches are delivered.
According to the directive, the institutes must also plan enjoyable events for Sunday at various locations. The Kota district administration will organise a review visit to the dorms and hotels in the meanwhile to see how the students are doing.
They will ascertain whether the district administration's directive to install spring-loaded ceiling fans was carried out. They will also examine the students' health. After seven days, the team must provide a report.
The 24th student suicide in Kota has reportedly occurred this year as a NEET candidate died by suicide on Sunday. According to the local police, the candidate, 16-year-old Aavishkar Sambhaji Kasle from Latur in Maharashtra, leapt off the sixth story of a tutoring facility. Kasle was taken to a hospital by the workers of the institute, but he passed away from his wounds en route. A CCTV camera placed on the property recorded the incident.
He was preparing for NEET at the age of 16. He was a class twelve student who resided with his maternal grandparents. He leaped from his coaching institute's sixth level. According to ANI, Kota Deputy Superintendent of Police (SP) Dharmveer Singh said, "We have sent his body for post-mortem. The student killed himself, according to the authorities, after showing up for a regularly scheduled test.
Singh noted that the student took the drastic action just five minutes after leaving the exam room. For three years, Avishkar had been studying for the NEET-UG exam while residing with his maternal grandparents in a rented room in Kota's Talwandi neighbourhood. His parents work as public school teachers in Maharashtra.
A few hours later, at around 7 o'clock in the evening, a student, age 18, hanged himself in his leased flat near the Kunhadi police station. The student, identified as Adarsh Raj, a student from Bihar. He was preparing for the NEET exam. According to reports, he was breathing when he was hauled down, but he passed away en route to the hospital. Previously, Adarsh resided with his cousins.
Every year, more than two lakh students relocate to Kota to study for competitive tests like the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) for medical school entrance and the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) for engineering. Authorities report that 24 students in the district who were studying for competitive examinations have taken their own deaths so far in 2023, the most of any year. The amount was 15 the previous year.
