There is nothing like a generalised ‘best’ way of attempting NEET paper. Many test takers and NEET toppers present their suggestions on how the paper should be addressed. However, the best way is the personal method devised to attempt the paper.
The appropriate way can be outlined by constant experimentation. One needs to experiment and discover the best way of attempting NEET paper as well as filling OMR sheet throughout preparation time. NEET mock tests can prove to be a great resource in this process.
After filling in the particulars in OMR Sheet, spend some time analyzing the question paper and skimming through the sections. Hunt for the section that you are most well versed with. Experts suggest that Biology is a good section to start as it is relatively easier than Physics and Chemistry.
NEET 2020 question paper should be solved in Three Rounds.
Solve Easy questions first- NEET 2020 will have around 80-90 questions which will be easy to attempt and will consume less time. After completing this round, you will almost have 2 hours in your hands to go through round 2 and round 3.
Moderate Questions- While you will look for easy questions, you will come across moderate questions too. These are those questions which you can solve but will take more time. Post completion of this round you will have around 20 questions left and approximately half an hour time.
This is the round where you will have to follow a selective approach. Go for the questions that you think are good to invest time in, use a calculative mind and then attempt questions as there’s a possibility you will leave certain questions unanswered due to negative marking.
Analysing personal experiences, if one attempts biology in the first round leaving questions in which you face doubt, you can easily attempt around 75 questions in a span of 15 minutes.
In the second round of biology, revisit the left over questions and try and solve them. You may possibly be able to solve 8-10 questions out of 15. This will possibly take another 10-12 minutes. Once done with this section, mark the OMR sheet for biology.
Switch to Chemistry and go through the questions. Solve around 35 questions in 20 minutes. In the second round of the question reading, solve around 5-8 questions in approximately 10 minutes.
Skip questions that seem unsolvable to you. Fill in the OMR sheet for Chemistry questions.
With completion of these two rounds (which you might complete in 1 hour along with filling OMR), you will still be left with around 2 hours and 45 questions of Physics along with those left in Chemistry and Biology.
Give the Physics section a first read and solve questions that you are able to answer. You may probably be able to attempt 35 questions in 30 minutes. Give a second read and you might be able to solve 5-8 questions in around 10 minutes, leaving questions that you will not be able to answer. With this you will be left with around 1 hour 15 minutes. Invest this time to revisit calculations of every Physics question and fill in the OMR sheet for confirmed answers.
In the left over time, go back to the questions that you have left in all sections and mark them with accuracy. You might not be able to answer all questions making 100% attempt in NEET question paper. But make use of the added advantage of time in the paper.
However, this is a generalised technique to solve NEET question papers and in no way questions the personal capacity of NEET test takers. It solely depends on the candidates abilities who will be appearing for the medical entrance test.

Once a candidate attempts NEET Previous Year Paper, they will be able to analyse their level of preparation and mark out the topics they are weak in and need more focus. The question paper will also help in understanding the paper pattern, types of questions, marking scheme and time management for every section.
While attempting NEET question papers, candidates will also be able to mark out topics that have appeared in the question paper on a repeated basis. Rigorous practice also helps in solving questions faster. After some time candidates will be able to understand if their marked answer is right or wrong.
