Should I join IIM Indore or SJMSOM??
My cousin recently graduated from SJMSOM and has begun working at Fidelity Investments as a Delivery Manager for almost 3 years now. He suggests going for SJMSOM only if,
- You essentially prefer studying amidst a comparably smaller batch size.
- You further want to be at the Financial Capital, for either internships or job purposes.
- You prefer going for the best infrastructure and basic amenities.
- You can enjoy the brand value likewise.
You can opt for IIM Indore only if you prefer the following,
- You are confident that you can compete and stand out with a larger batch.
- You will receive the major brand value that comes along with IIMs.
- You want to secure a seat at one of the best management institutes.
- However, the placements of either institute are somewhat similar, with relevant recruiters visiting both campuses occasionally during placement seasons.
- Both the institutes offer exchange opportunities as per schedule.

Every class begins with a presentation by a student team. During the Q&A session that follows, he makes every single student sweat, both mentally and physically.

What's your opinion of KGMU?
My sister is a student at KGMU so this answer is based on her experience only.
- KGMU is the largest Residential Medical University in India offering a wide variety of medical courses. The entire academic framework is formed by a total of 75 departments. Additionally, KGMU also offers several clinical pieces of training including ACLS, ATLS, BLS, and ATCN to improve the clinical skills of healthcare workers.
- The institute organizes frequent national and international conferences
- KGMU has an unending list of achievements, some of them being; that it's the first government university to establish an exclusive Critical Care Medicine Department; it's also the first to offer an MD course in ‘Hospital Administration’ in North India. Moreover, its Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (DPMR) is the largest multidisciplinary inpatient tertiary care rehabilitation hospital in North India.
- The research culture at KGMU is unmatched and it’s the hub of research activities for various WHO, ICMR, DBT, and UPCST projects. The hospital receives huge research funds and many of the studies are collaborated with medical schools abroad. The annual publications of a few of the faculties exceed that of any decent college’s total publications.
- The patient flow here is huge and it caters to an almost 20-crore population of the entire north India. On average, KGMU has 10,000 patients every day. The patient inflow and the clinical exposure we get are just unparalleled.
- KGMU has churned out many great scientists and clinicians. Many alumni hold high positions overseas including senior faculty and research posts in the USA, UK, Australia, and Gulf countries. Many of our alumni are Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri awardees.
- Every UG or PG student and faculty has access to UpToDate, Nature Research, Clinical Key, SpringerLink, JAYPEEDIGITAL, Clinical Learning, BMJ Case Reports, BMJ Best Practice, and ERMED Consortium.
- KGMU has a separate Placement Cell consisting of several students and faculties. This cell offers academic and non-academic guidance.
- KGMU has Foreign Exchange Programs with several universities abroad.
- Every year, the ‘MBBS Student Research Award’ is awarded to a UG student who has published the first authored article in a national or international journal.
Overall, KGMU is an excellent medical college at par with AIIMS.
How is the life of an MS (by research) student at IIT Madras?
One of my friends was an MS student at IIT Madras and she loved the time spent pursuing that course.
- It gave her a sort of exhilarating experience of freedom to pursue whatever and however she wanted in her academics.
- The research helps you learn how to tackle the challenges on your own.
- Since you do not belong to a certain class, you might feel lonely sometimes but for some this might actually be a good thing. You get more time to invest in studying for your research.
- A typical morning of an MS student at IIT Madras begins around 8-9 and there are no fixed timings as you don’t have any classes to attend. You wake up and check if the computation you had left overnight on the supercomputer has converged or not.
- After this, go to the mess for breakfast and then head to the labs.
- You start coding and solving problems. If you face a problem you read and try to get a solution on your own. You keep working till 1: 30 after which you head to have lunch.
- At around 4 30 in the evening, your guide approaches you to get updates on your work for the day. You get to take a tea/coffee break with them which would not have been possible as a BTech and MTech student. They guide you not only academically but also enlighten you on fundamentals like professionalism, discipline, humility, principles, and morals of a human being.
- Post the tea break you are back with coding in your lab or reading a scientific paper.
- After a while, you can pack yourself and leave for the hostel. Now you can catch up on your sleep, watch anything.
The routine of a typical day of an MS student is mostly self-driven and thus varies from person to person. You get immense exposure as you have to work with BTech students, Ph.D. students, and sometimes even with the placement committee. Unlike BTech and MTech students, you have practical and theoretical knowledge of many concepts.
How can I get admission in BHU through a paid seat?
To know how to get admission to BHU through a paid seat, you must first know what exactly a paid seat is.
Every year BHU conducts entrance exams during the months of April, May and June. After this, the university releases the cutoff list. The students who fail to reach the cutoff but are just slightly below it are offered paid seats.
The admission process of both regular and paid seats is the same. A call letter will be sent for counseling.
The biggest drawback of paid seats is that the fees are extremely high compared to the regular ones.

How many marks are required to get NIT Surathkal in JEE main?
The JEE Mains score required to get into NIT Surathkal depends on the branch you are seeking.
If you wish to study B.Tech CSE, you’ll require roughly between 200-220 marks as a general candidate. But if your aim is to simply get into NITK with any branch, aim for a 160+ score.
The campus of NIT Surathkal is really beautiful. The college has its own private beach and a top notch infrastructure. The campus is spread across roughly 300 acres, and it is one of the top engineering colleges in India.
I would recommend you work really hard and give your best shot to get into NIT Surathkal.
What are some must experience classes at NIT Trichy?
One of my juniors is a recent sophomore at the institute and can update you more thoroughly than usual. Here are some things he mentioned,
- Lately, he has interacted with 40% of the total faculty of NIT Trichy and has visited multiple classes.
- He mentions that the production lab of the institute unfortunately does not use the entirety of its equipment.
- Despite the presence of several types of machinery, students are mandated to use hacksaws for steel cutting.
- The current scenario is more futile than what could be anticipated.
- Moreover, as per what my friend mentions, the lab assistants are not permitted to use the machines.
- However, the OJAS building, where most of the chemistry and physics labs are located, works comparably better.
- He mentions that his experience was decent.
This is an overall justification of his experience as a whole. There is more to fill the space, yet just only needs exploration. Hope this helps answer your questions.
Which one is better out of these: NIT Silchar, NIT Patna or IIIT Jabalpur?
According to me, IIIT Jabalpur is way ahead of the other two colleges. It is followed by NIT Patna. Here are some advantages of IIIT Jabalpur-
- Infrastructure- The campus is spread across 300 acres and has a well-furnished library.
- Placements - The placements are good and improving with each year. Here is the year-wise highest salary trend for the college-
The placements for Mechanical, CSE and ECE are quite impressive. Other students opt for CAT/GMAT/higher studies abroad. The college is just 4 km away from the Jabalpur airport which facilitates more companies to visit the campus for placements. Because of good connectivity to major metropolitan cities of India, the placements are expected to increase exponentially in the coming years.
- Hostels and Campus Life- As a fresher, you’ll be allotted a three-seater hostel room. From the second year onwards, you’ll get a separate room. Each hostel has two messes and a canteen, the mess food is good. The hostel canteens are open till 2 (at night).
Campus life is great. You can play Volleyball, Cricket, and Football with your friends till late evening. The college fests- Gusto and Abhikalpan are much awaited.
- Sports, Clubs and Gym- The college offers good sports facilities. There are football, cricket, basketball, volleyball, badminton & tennis grounds. Hostels have TT tables. Various clubs like dance club, drama club, etc. are also present. There is a gym facility on campus, provided free of cost to the students.
- Faculty - The faculty is excellent. It includes IIT alumni and former students of prestigious US universities. You’ll get to learn from the best.
- Other - The CSE department has good placements and curriculum. The college has collaborations with 6 Japanese Companies and 6 Japanese institutions.
Therefore, out of NIT Silchar, NIT Patna and IIIT Jabalpur, I would suggest you go for the third one.
How is the life of an MBBS student at KJ Somaiya medical college, Mumbai?
The life of an MBBS student at KJ Somaiya Medical College, like medical students at most institutions, can be both challenging and rewarding. The lectures at KJ Somaiya typically begin at 8:30 in the morning and go until 5–5:30 in the evening. Typically, lectures last three hours and include a 15-minute break. After lectures, students attend committee meetings, presentations, assignments, or extracurricular activities. Here's an overview of what you can expect during your time as an MBBS student at KJ Somaiya Medical:

Rather than high fee structure KJ Somaiya Medical college is a good place to pursue MBBS. It would be demanding as well as incredibly rewarding.
