Is joining School of Law, NMIMS (Mumbai) worth it for a BA LLB? How good is the faculty? Do they have a hostel facility? What is the fee structure?
In case you are not able to make it into the top 6 National Law Universities, considering NMIMS law school is definitely a good choice. The school has updates to the semester system which earlier was a trimester one.
Faculty: The institute is expanding at a fast rate and its faculty is also changing, bringing in more dynamic staff. The faculty is proficient in their respective fields and adopts the best pedagogy.
Fees: The total NMIMS B.A.L.L.B. fees for this session is INR 5.1 L - 15 L.
Hostel fees: Boys- INR 1.60 L - 2.35 L/yr; Girls- IN 1.60 L - 2.35 L/yr.
However, the hostels are highly not recommended owing to the following reasons
- Only 6 seats for law students
- Non A/C accommodation
- Strict rules and timings
Why don't students of peripheral AIIMS prepare for USMLE, unlike AIIMS Delhi students?-
First of all, it's untrue that students of other AIIMS need to clear USMLE and move abroad for higher studies. In my sister's batch 5–6 seniors cleared USMLE from AIIMS Bhopal and moved abroad. However, the number of students going abroad from other AIIMS is certainly less than in AIIMS Delhi. Here's why
- AIIMS Delhi students are entirely guided by their well-placed alumni in foreign countries while the students of other AIIMS have no one to guide them.
- IIMS Delhi provides a perfect environment to move to states for further studies owing to its excellent research opportunities and faculty recommendations.
- It's the AIIMS Delhi tag that enjoys global recognition and not all AIIMS have been able to reach the global market.
However, over the past few years, there is a significant decrease in the number of AIIMS Delhi students moving abroad after MBBS. I think the major reason for this change is that India now provides excellent academics and opportunities in medicine that are on par with global standards. Ultimately it's the individual's choice to clear USSMLE and go abroad or stay in India and do their PG from AIIMS.
Which is better, NIT Warangal or IIT Dhanbad?

How do I get admission in Hyderabad central university for MCA course?
Hyderabad Central University conducts an entrance examination for student intake into various courses during Feb-March each year. The entrance test is the only way you can get admission into the courses offered by HCU. So, you should keep an eye on the official website for admission notification from Oct-Nov. Once the notification is out, you can apply online.
If I get selected into NSIT and IIIT-H for computer science, which one should I choose? What are the pros and cons at each of them?
Here are the pros and cons of both NSUT and IIIT Hyderabad
NSUT Pros:
- NSUT has a very light academic workload so you can spend time exploring your passions
- The crowd here is excellent and will teach you a lot during your time here.
- NSUT is located in the capital city and enjoys a lot of benefits. Moreover, it’s located away from the hustle and bustle of the city in
- NSUT students get easy access to internships because Delhi has a lot of start-ups.
- NSUT hostels are decent and the food served is much better than a lot of other colleges around.
NSUT Cons:
- NSUT has Computer Engineering instead of Computer Science & Engineering which comprised subjects related to hardware
- The syllabus is outdated and no new developments in the field are covered. Moreover, core CS subjects are taught only after the 5th sem
- NSUT has a very pathetic research scenario and only a few professors are involved in good research work.
- NSUT infrastructure and facilities are in a very bad state. There isn't a Wi-Fi facility on campus and no internet in hostels.
IIIT Hyderabad Pros:
- IIIT Hyderabad has the best CS curriculum in India. You will be mostly studying core CS courses.
- IIIT Hyderabad has a rich coding culture and has produced a large number of coders. Some of them have even been featured at the top in online programming judges and competitions
- IIIT Hyderabad has an active research culture and students are required to do research as a part of their course.
- The placement scenario of IIIT Hyderabad is amazing and the best companies come for recruitment.
IIIT Hyderabad Cons: Its curriculum is pretty challenging and very much CS-tailored making it difficult for students to explore their non-CS interests.
I will suggest you go for IIIT Hyderabad as it has better opportunities and an academic environment.
What is the cutoff for KJ Somaiya Vidyavihar first year engineering? What are the minimum marks in JEE in boards, along with percentile?
I have a few friends from KJ Somiya and they gave me some information regarding the required cutoff at the institute.
- The cut-off was apparently on the higher side in the CAP rounds because the institute was granted autonomy very recently. The state merit rank for the mechanical branch was almost around 500 - 1000.
- For computer science engineering, the cut-off ranged almost to 1600 - 1800, while it was 3000 - 3500 until CAP-2 with the inclusion of a percentile that was around 96.
It is best that you keep patience until the last counseling round, which is, CAP-3. If you are a general category student then you won’t get selected in CAP-1, you need to wait till the last round or the spot round. Alternatively, you can also go for autonomous colleges instead of university colleges.
What are the scholarships given at SASTRA university?
According to the information I got from the website, there are 2 types of scholarships provided by SASTRA University.
Hostel Scholarships:
Students availing this scholarship should meet a certain criteria.
- They should not have paid the fine for mess facilities.
- Hostel attendance should be perfect.
- Indiscipline action should not be done by the student in the hostel.
- They should have a minimum of 90% class attendance.
If you meet the above criteria and have and maintain a good CGPA, you will be offered a scholarship of INR 16,000. This reimburses the Mess Fee for a year.
Dean’s List Merit Scholarship for Top Scorers in University Examinations:
There are two levels in obtaining this.
- If you are in the top 2-3% in the university, you will be offered two-fifths of a semester fees.
- If you are in the top 3-10% in the university, you will be offered one-fifth of a semester fees.
Therefore, SASTRA University is known to have helped students who face financial difficulties. They will help you complete your studies in extreme cases. If you are a good student with a decent GPA and conduct you will be assured a proper graduation.
How is NIT Patna for civil?
NIT Patna is a highly reputed institution in India for civil engineering. The Department of Civil Engineering offers courses at the UG, PG, and PhD levels. The faculty members are highly qualified and have a good mix of experience and youth. Consider the following circumstances
- If you are looking for a highly paid private sector job after completing your graduation, then this college isn’t a very good choice for you. This is because very limited core sector companies recruit civil engineers like L&T, Adani Power, Paradon, Sobha developers, etc. The packages offered are very low below INR 10 LPA.

NIT Patna is well known for its Civil Engineering branch. In fact, the main building of NIT Patna is the Civil Department. The department has highly experienced faculties who are genuinely passionate about civil engineering.

Which is better: IIT Dhanbad or NIT Rourkela?
NIT Rourkela stood at 16th position and IIT (ISM Dhanbad) stood at 17th position in the NIRF 2023 Rankings for Engineering Colleges in India. These rankings are provided by the MHRD itself. IIT (ISM) Dhanbad is a good institution and holds the IIT tag since 2016. However, according to me, NIT Rourkela is better than many of the IITs, especially the new ones.
NIT R has a 1200 acre campus filled with greenery, multiple hostels with proper accommodation for boys and girls, and the facility of 1 Bhk flats for married Ph.D. scholars within the campus premises at a minimum fee. It also has a very good administrative block. NIT Rourkela is a better choice for teaching, placement, and research work.
According to me, NIT Rourkela is a better college than IIT (ISM) Dhanbad.
Can I prefer AIIMS Patna over IGMC Shimla considering Patna as a city in Bihar?
Yes, AIIMS Patna is definitely a better choice than IGMC Shimla because no matter how much natural beauty you will experience in Shimla, being a state college you will have the disadvantage of bonds.
AIIMS Patna on the other hand is an institute of National Importance that has been growing leaps and bounds over the past 11 years. The best part is that these new AIIMS are expected to grow more in the future while the state colleges maintain a similar situation.
AIIMS Patna will offer the best facilities and infrastructure and you will be guided by the best faculty. AIIMS Patna has a much more diverse student body than state colleges and the experience will be surreal as you are a part of the group. So I feel if you are against Patna because of the city or location, trust me as a medical student you will have no time to explore the city, and mostly your day will be spent inside the campus. So why miss the AIIMS tag!
