What do you have to say to a student who just got into IIM Indore's IPM program?
My friend is a senior at IIM Indore for the same course. As a senior, he has the following pieces of advice and recommendations for his juniors.
- Spend quality time with your family and friends before joining. Do things you have been willing to do for a long time but couldn't. This is because once you begin your hectic life here, you won't get time for anything else.
- Refrain from being a part of any clubs and fests in the initial year. Rather focus more on academics.
- Your peers will be from diverse backgrounds. Some may find it difficult to interact with them. It's okay if you don't befriend them just don't look down on anyone. Everyone here is a genius who has made it into an IIM after many struggles. On the brighter side, peers from all over the country add to the experience and fun.
- Try to make the most out of the library of the institution. You have a prior subscription included in your fees so you are free to explore the huge variety of books here.
- Read the IPM Manual given in the orientation thoroughly.
- Inculcate some extra skills like Excel or typing that might come handy in the future.
- Don't hesitate from approaching the professors for any kind of doubts. They are very humble and cooperative.
- Seek help from our seniors as they are more than ready to help in any situation.
- Last and most important, learn basic E-mail writing etiquette before the actual program begins. This will save you from embarrassing yourself in the future.
All these points will help you avoid some major blunders committed by seniors. But remember everyone makes mistakes in their college life. What matters is how you tackle it and what you learn from it.
Is branch sliding possible in NIT Durgapur?
Yes, branch sliding is possible at NIT Durgapur. However, you need to follow certain policies to be eligible for sliding into another branch
- Firstly , you need to maintain your CGPA throughout the first year and have a very high CGPA at the end of the second semester.
- Secondly, there must be vacant seats in your desired branch.
- There must be someone with a high CGPA who wants to mutually exchange his/her seat with you.
- In case of a tie between two students, the winner will be decided based on the JEE Main rank.
In reality, it’s very difficult to find a vacant seat in your desired branch or someone who wants to exchange. So there won’t be more than 3 to 4 students who will be eligible for internal sliding.
What are the requirements for admission into Delhi University?
Here are some of the things that you need to know about taking admission at DU.
- You must be at least a pass-out of XII.
- If you wish to take admission for B.A, B.Sc, B.Com offered by the university you need to have completed Class 12 examination with the minimum required marks specified.
- The eligibility criteria for admission differ according to your category.
- There is no age limit to apply for UG programs.
- If you need information regarding admission, you can visit the official website.
You will need the following documents at the time of admissions.
- Your Original 10th and 12th Marksheet.
- The Migration Certificate issued by the board.
- Transfer Certificate issued by your school.
- The Character Certificate issued by your school.
- Provisional Certificate, again issued by your school.
- Make a note to attach 4 latest passport-size photographs. Also, carry your College Admission Form, it will be checked at the entrance as well.
- You might have to show a Caste Certificate if required. Use a Sports Certificate if you have to avail sports quota and if it's your wish to attach an ExtraCurricular Activity Certificate, you may.
Remember to carry four photocopies of the above-mentioned certificates and don't worry, even if you forget any certificate, you can submit it within 10 days.
Should I leave IIT Roorkee electrical engineering for SCRA?
One of my friends completed his Dual Degree program in CSE from IIT Roorkee last year. she was in a similar dilemma. The SCRA opportunity seemed lucrative to his father and relatives but he was against leaving IIT Roorkee.
He got the results in the first year at IIT Roorkee and she was due to join in the summer vacations. Giving up on the continued pressure, he decided to join SCRA. He couldn’t stay for more than 2 months and eventually resigned.
He shared the various perks he enjoyed as an SCA (Special Class Apprentice) with a high stipend, hostel facilities, and decent food. Additionally, he got a B.E. from BIT Mesra and you are given enough time to prepare for Civil Services. By the end of college, you are appointed as an Assistant Mechanical Engineer, a very coveted job.
Although he enjoyed his life in Jabalpur, his inclination toward programming always reminded him to go back, which eventually he did. So we can say that both opportunities are good except that one needs to identify his area of interest.
Which is best, BITS Pilani for CSE or NIT Trichy for CSE?

How do I get good marks in bput?
You will be glad to know that scoring good marks in BPUT is rather easy. Here are a few simple tips to score good marks
- Study from all the previous years' question papers
- and trust me you will be able to get at least 50 marks questions in your semester from them.
- Try to solve these papers yourself initially and then refer to the solved papers for correction.
- Solve all previous years' questions at least once before exams.
- Focus the most on 2-mark questions and learn all by heart.
- Move on to the long questions carrying 10 marks only after you are done with the short ones.
- Start studying at least a month prior to your semester exams.
- Attempt the short questions carrying 2 marks first and then start attempting the long questions.
- Never leave a question unanswered and always write something related to the question even if it’s a formula.
Following the above steps will surely help you gain knowledge and score good marks.
Is AIIMS Delhi safe for a female MBBS UG student?
I cannot comment on the safety of the city as a whole but the AIIMS Delhi campus is one of the safest campuses you will find here. The college is safe for both boys and girls and students roam inside or outside the campus the entire day and no problems have been caused.
Here, the female students are given a level of freedom to come and go as their will, and their privacy is maintained.
Located in South Delhi, the campus area is safer than other parts of the city as it’s one of the most sophisticated areas of Delhi. Additionally, famous colleges in close proximity like IIT Delhi, NIFT Delhi, VMMC, and DU colleges maintain the decorum of the area. Even the Indian Parliament and India Gate are located nearby which is one of the safest areas in the whole country.
The students don’t have to travel far as most facilities are available on the campus be it a parlor or anything. Malls, cafés, and clubs can be found in close vicinity of 1–2 km making it safe for the students to go out.
I think safety should never be a concern for female M.B.B.S. students here and you can rely on the institute's security.
Which one to choose, lower NIT or College of engineering, Pune or DTU ?
DTU should be your priority. It is one of the oldest Indian Engineering institutions. It has a brand name and a good reputation. It has better placements, campus, college life, location, etc. than COEP. Only NIT Trichy and NIT Warangal are on par with DTU. Mechanical is a renowned branch at DTU. The Mechanical department has many innovations to its credit. For example, the first Biodiesel Lab in India.
I know someone who did his B.Tech Mechanical from COEP. He chose COEP over a top NIT. According to him, it was not a wise decision for his career. Teaching is done mostly in Marathi at COEP. Some of the faculty members are underqualified and not up to the mark. This made him lose interest in learning and resulted in poor personality development.
At NITs, you study with people from across India and this offers exposure to different cultures. The NIT brand also has its added advantages. NITs have a standard grading system known in the industry. When you graduate from COEP and go to, say IIMs, the grading system at COEP causes a lot of hassle. COEP does not offer cross-culture exposure. Though the labs at COEP are big, the equipment is outdated and non-functional.
A benefit is that COEP is located in Pune which is an automotive hub. Therefore, Mechanical students get to connect with the automotive industry. Pune automotive industry has a large number of COEP alumni. All this allows you to do a lot of live industry projects while on campus.
Overall, choose DTU and if you do not get admission into it, go for lower NITs.
How good is biotechnology at Manipal University?
BTech in Biotechnology has a hybrid curriculum covering areas of science, technology, and engineering focusing on research. Manipal University is One of the best colleges in Dubai with an amazing infrastructure. The professors are cooperative and are always ready to help students learn well. The institute has amazing lab facilities and placement scenarios.
Students in second and third years also can indulge in cutting-edge research. The curriculum is at par with global standards.
Overall, Biotechnology at Manipal University is a great choice indeed.
