Remarks

The college cotain its history. The college is very old college. It have their own story. This college is the first girls college in assam and it contains its legacy untill today. College is present in the centre of Guwahati therefire its have the heart of guwahati city.

Course Curriculum Overview

Course are helpful for student. But more practical work must be required. The syllabus is vast in compare to the duration of time. Therefore more practical implantation is required. Exam structure is good.GU conduct sessional exam and final seester exam in both graduation student and post graduation.

Placement Experience

No, college desnot provide internship.Job oppurtunities is not very good. Candidates must have NET, PHD and skillful.Internship programme is now a days must required. But There is no such programme under Guhati university.

College Events

1.Annual function, 2.Farewell, 3.saraswati puja, 4.Teachers day, 5.Independence day. All students have a good bond among them.All enjoyed those event coordinately.They organixe cultural Programme and shows volours of our society.

Feasible, In according to guhati university the fees structure is planned. Yearly you have to readmission and exam fees is extra.

Fees and Financial Aid

UGC, this scholarshil is given by central government and the scholarshil is very helpful for student other scholarship avilable for caste like sc/st and obc. Poast gradutaion student also get scholarship.

Campus Life

All extracurricular activities are there. There are one basket ball ground, a high tech library. Girls are very active in social function. Biotech labs are present in the collede. The facility of the lab is high.

Alumni/Alumna

Yes, all are helpful. The seniors helps their junior. The environment is very friendly. All organise social function coorinately and support each other. No ragging happend in college girls are very friendly with each other.

Admission

Guwahati university conduct entrance exam for M.Sc student. They provide erit list according to the entrance exam. They select student by merit list where 60% from main exam and 40% from entrance and through the exam we got admission.

The faculty members are very active. They always ready to helps student. They envourage students for beetter future,future research work. They frequently organise seminar and introduce new researcher. Members are very warm and helpful.

A glimpse into Gauhati University's geology department

Likes

Library is good for studying and borrowing books
Campus is clean with very beautiful scenery and nature.
Faculty members are very highly trained and certified, paasing out from IITs and GSI.

Dislikes

Some of the teachers cannot teach well and needs improvement
The electrical fans are not well maintained for which it becomes hard to study during summer days
The transportation system is little weak as during classes very less no. of ev rikshaw and Auto rickshaw run.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The teachers prepare students well for jobs at different companies and gives marks based on our understanding of the subject. But some of the teachers need to interact more with the students. The internal examination are not well timed and give little time for students to study.

My College Experience

Likes

Ambience is great. The environment of college is very good and clean
Being a very old college it has a different aura. A darrangian will able to understand it
Some of the teachers are also good and also personally my department is great

Dislikes

Teaching ways is not that great. It should be improved
Most of the teachers there still follow the traditional way of teaching
Some of the classrooms are very conjusted and not enough spacious.

Course Curriculum Overview:

It is great. The curriculum of our college is very good. There are different fields where one could apply apart from studies. Like - NCC,NSS and even many cultural fields. Students who are culturally active will get a lot of opportunities here

Likes

The teachers are very punctual and helpful
The surrounding is huge and almost all the daily essential are available inside the campus
Nice library and AC installed in all the classroom

Dislikes

Infrastructure can be improve and repainting is required
More extra curricular activities can be included
Quality of water is not good, iron content is high

I choose this course as nutrition is one that plays a very important role in our daily life. Moreover i have a keen interest in everything that involves food.And to explore more about food i take this subject.

Likes

It has a pleasant environment with huge trees which gives reliefs in summer days.
Bus connectivity should be improved and they are sometimes late
Infrastructure of this university is top class. Professors are well educated with PhD degree and the roads are well designed

Dislikes

Some arrogant professors and their ignorance behaviour is not suitable for students
The market inside the campus should be improved with more shops
The hospital inside the campus is in very poor condition

Course Curriculum Overview:

The reason behind choosing this course is my deep interest in research area as our department shows good result in research domain .The curriculum provides us some topics that are to be deeply understood like we are imagining those topics in 3-D way and that will helps us in future aspects. The thing that need to be changed in our curriculum is course pattern itself because it lacks familiarity with CSIR - NET syllabus. The exams are held in the month of June and December and the difficulty level of the exam is from moderate to hard

Likes

The placements for M.Sc mathematics and computing students are very good here with good percentage of students placed.
The course structure of M.sc mathematics and computing is very placement supportive and interesting.
Campus is so much beautiful and have many beautiful spots . I think it is the best campus in all the IITs . It ha s lkes in it.

Dislikes

There is only ceiling fans in hostel room so in summers it may be a bit discomfort to you.
There are a lot of mosquitos during summers so it is the most annoying thing I felt.
Course structure is very hectic as you have only two years and you have to take care of academic and as well as placement

Placement Experience:

The on campus placement of this course are good with an average package of 13.6 lakhs. There are various roles in which you can get placed that is software development, data science, teaching etc. around 70% of students get placed. Many good companies such as Google Microsoft Amazon etc. comes here for recruitment

I applied for many colleges apart from this one but I couldn't get into the other colleges I got a chance in handique girls' college therefore I chose it. The colleges I applied for has very good campus than handique girls college and more reputation. I couldn't make it to other colleges because of my marks my marks were lesser than required for the other colleges. All you have to know about Handique Girls' college

I applied to cotton University and also DU.. I didn get in cotton ...but i got in DU with sociology..since i wanted to go for psychology, I didnt go to DU. I didn't make it to Cotton because of cut off marks. Getting into psychology is really tough especially in this generation where people are more aware about mental health. The cut off was really high 96 % in cotton and Idk about DU it varies from clg to clg. The admission process in Handique girls' college is okayish. Runs smoothly. You just need to have necessary documents and also can ask the staff for any queries or doubts. For Handique the cut off is average. If you score above 90% you'll definitely get admission in psychology. Bu then again the cut off varies every year. This year political science cut off was very high in every college.
