The campus of NIT Srinagar is very beautiful and very serene. The view of Dal lake and the mountains from the campus is extremely beautiful and breathtaking. Environment in NIT Srinagar is very friendly.
Course Curriculum Overview
Course curriculum is as per the standards set for the national institutes. It is at par with other national institutes. Course curriculum includes subjects of the main branch you are studying in, and also subjects like maths, chemistry, physics, basics of electrical, electronics and materials etc which should be known to an engineer .
Internships Opportunities
No, generally not. But it may provide if any student is interested to do internship under any specified professor. The student may not get any stipend but he will certificate and experience for sure.
Placement Experience
In the final year of B.tech many companies come for on campus placement of students and record of placements from this college is very good. Job opportunities are excellent . Students dont even need to have a v good gpa. Students are selected on the basis of exam and interviews conducted by the company itself.
College Events
Varoius events are celebrated in our college which includes tech fest, sports week, various other events like conferences on varied topics, workshops etc. Farewell and freshers are provided to students.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Fee structure is feasible and as per the rules set for natinal institutions. For b.tech students of general category , it is 48,100 rupees only. While for other categories it is v.v. low. Mess and hostel fee is separate and is easily affordable for a middle class family.
Fees and Financial Aid
Scholarship are available to the students. One that i know is scholarship given in view of minority category to the Muslim students. Almost whole tution fee is compensated by the scholarship. It is given yearly and you will have to apply for it each year.
Campus Life
Extra curricular activities are very good Activities are done apart from regular studies. Students are taken for educational tours. Labs are good , though not fully equipped but they are being updated. Sports activities are prevalent. Students actively participate in various sports events of even national and international level.
Hostel Facilities
I would rate Hostel facilities as 7 out of 10. Infrastructure of hostels same as in most of the educational institutes. But mess food is not that good. Overall hostel is good and tolerable. Separate hostels for boys and girls are there.
Alumni/Alumna
Alumni network is not so strong. But it depends on student itself. Some of the students have connections with most of the alumni while some dont have any kind of connections. While students of the same branch remain usually connected by their WhatsApp groups.
Exam Structure
In a year two semesters are completed. One semester includes one mid term exam of 30 marks and one final exam of 60 marks for each subject. And 10 marks are awarded to assignments and class attendance. Total 100 marks for each subject in one semester.
Admission
For B.tech you have to qualify JEE Mains entrance exams and clear the cut off for this very institute. There are 8 streams for B.tech in this college namely mechanical, civil, electrical, electronics and communication, IT, Computer science, chemical ,metallurgical and materials engineering. Counselling is done and according to your score, you are selected in a particular branch.
Faculty
Faculty for some of the branches is very good while for some it is not that good. In terms of qualification faculty in this institute is as at par with those faculty in any other national institute. While as some of them lack experience and teaching skills.
