Remarks

If compared with the other colleges in Bangalore my college was one of the best in terms of college life, activities, organization of fests, placements, ragging, diversity and many other things but when compare with outside world it needs to work in terms

Entrance Preview

COMED-K,Since i didn't cleared the IIT JEE, AIEEE &BITSAT, this was my next best option due to its accessibility to IT companies. COMED-K is conducted in month of may and the counselling is done after 1 month. Counselling takes place in 2 installments 1st one is done where everyone takes their seats at different college of Karnataka according to their ranking in entrance exam and 2nd round is done if any one from 1st round drops and any one else wants to change their choice of college of stream. The process is very easy going. It generally takes place in NMKRV college in Jayanaga, Bangalore. During counselling they verify your mark-sheet and other documents. During the counselling they take a DD of 50k and if a person drops it he gets refund after some deductions. I chose Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering because it was one of the best institutions in my rank group, where i choose Electrical Engineering.

Course Curriculum Overview

2.5

Course structure is good but they don't focus on research they generally focus on giving everything to student which don't prepare student for the competitive world. Some teachers are good but most of them just teach the bookish language due to which even an core branches like Electrical, Mechanical and Civil engineering student don't get the job in core sectors and their only options is IT companies.

Placement Experience

2

To tell you about our placements during our time. It was lull. The first day of the placements were given to HCL instead of last year favorites INFOSYS beacuse HCL promised them that they will hire good number but they didn't kept their promise and instead of their promise of 300+ hiring they just hired 150+ only. Their were many companies but all of them came for hiring of 10-15 peoples at max only. From core branches perspective there were only 1-2 companies for electrical for mechanical only one giant was there Benz for civil there was developers like shobha and some small companies. However the salary these companies were offering were too less compared to previous years. Overall it seemed to be a bad phase for corporate sectors due to which placements were very less during that time.

College Events

2

College fest are the only things which cheered us up. We conducted VTU fests, Many technical fests were also conducted in which many colleges from Bangalore took part and showed their expertise. Many technical speeches were also conducted in our college.

Fee Structure And Facilities

There are two kinds of hostels for boys and girls one is Indian hostel and another is NRI hostel. The fees for Indian hostel was around 60k-70K and for NRI hostel was 1 lpa - 1.1 lpa. Apart from hostels the area aound the college has many PG's and flats .PG fees was around 4.5 k -6k depending on facilities. Fooding charges were around 1.5k-2k. Indian hostel food was average , same was that for NRI hostel.

Fees and Financial Aid

Only the people from Karnataka gets some exemption in their fees but for for students from other states were given no such benefits. However loans were available.

Campus Life

3

Campus life is good and enjoying. Gender ratio is also very good in the college. Competitions were not organized much but the people who wanted to play were also not stopped. Labs were good.

Alumni/Alumna

Due to many anti-ragging related reforms by college seniors were afraid to interact with juniors which reduced the interaction between juniors and seniors due to which there is no such alumni network.

Placement Experience:

From your 7th semester you become eligible to get placed and it is mandatory to get internship before you get placed which the college helps you to get and around 400-500 companies visit, and a good amount of offers are made by them. The average package stands somewhere around 11LPA -12LPA and the highest goes to 50LPA-60LPA and the median stands around 9-10LPA.

Course Curriculum Overview:

As I'm in 1st semester. I will update you after my exams. But one good thing is that from this year, internals and externals will hold same weightage i.e., 50/50 If you can score more than 45% in internals which wouldn't be that big of a deal because they'll ask most the questions from class notes. Most of the faculties are average I would say. But some are good professors too. I chose CSE because I find these topics interesting since junior school. And everyone is just jumping into cse is a reason too lol.
