Remarks

Our College needs to have a good canteen for students which is affordable and must have more space so we can hangout or go for a walk and should have a laundry well and also should there should be a proper activities for hostelers

Course Curriculum Overview

4

I think it didn't require much more study because we need to learn half through practical work at the kitchen. we are trained to become a hotelier. Basically our department is build like a hotel it have kitchen, front office and rooms like a hotel and equipments as per needed and we are taught in such a way that we can become an outstanding hotelier. The exams are half theory and half practical and it's an amazing professional course one can follow

Placement Experience

4.5

Jobs opportunity is outstanding in our department because many brands of hotels came to take interview and we are selected as per our performance. Brands like Taj, JW Marriott and Oberoi, LiLa palace, Park Hotel to mention came for our IT interview. Stipend is based upon the hotel you are working with but it starts from maximum 1000 rupees.

College Events

3

We have different programs as per each department. Mainly we have our College fest week and singers and DJ's and fashion show are held. Management and Culinary students held food fest. And we have Law week or engineering talks and entrepreneurship training. We celebrate puja and Diwali and Bengali cultural festival at our department and shows various skills student had.

Fee Structure And Facilities

It is around 1 lakh per semester with hostel fee for those staying in hostel but dayscholars pay around 65k. It is expensive to be honest but as it is a professional course and as it provides good facilities and good placement we have to accept the fact.

Fees and Financial Aid

On the basis of marks there are various scholarship we can apply and we have to maintain the CGPA to continue our scholarship. I got scholarship which gave me a 25% off and it is SHARVODAYA scholarship provided by the university.

Campus Life

4

People out here are little bit narrow minded and can't get the Western influence of College. As from a northeastern state I have faced many problems. Socially it is good. Girls number are less than boys in our University.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

Hostel provides gyms, swimming pools and various activities and sports for hostelers, per room accommodate 2 students and per room have two beds two almirah two chair two table for each student and it is spacious. The fees per semester is 35k.

Alumni/Alumna

Seniors are helpful as they share their work experience from their internship. And we cooperation well in every department functions and yes it is helpful for us as a 1st year student. They treat us like professional because we are a future hotelier

Admission

I met my department HOD at a study fair and I was interested in Culinary so I joined. First we have to give entrance to get in, it's some basic questions asked as it is a professional course then we are asked to sit for an interview and are asked how well do we want to join the course.

Faculty

5

My faculty are like a friend we have professionalism with us as a hotelier they taught us in such a way that it goes through our blood. They have far experience working in foreign countries and some in cruise ships. Some even are excutive chef at hotels and interested in teaching their knowledge they acquired from thei past experience.

Placement Experience:

People who major in my department usually opt for masters over placement not because of this college but because overall industrial or academic opportunities are better with a pg degree. Masters from this college is not recommended as i have heard so from my seniors. Some of my seniors managed to crack competitives and secure MSc seats at great places. Training and Placement cell had a good coordinator previously but now its almost non existent. Companies do come and hire Bpharm, Mpharm and MSc candidates. Packages are below average. Only Nestle pays well. But if you do well you'll eventually climb up the corportate ladder. From the time i am here i have not heard of any BSc candidate getting placed. Most go for higher studies.

Placement Experience:

The average package offered for such roles ranges between ?2–3 LPA, while the highest package offered to a BSc student is around ?4 LPA, depending on skills and specialization. Overall, around 15–20% of BSc students get placed through campus drives, and many students rely on off-campus opportunities.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum was well thought out as per me but there were subjects that i found absolutely unnecessary. Subjects like history evs and clc were in no way related to my course. Coming to the main subjects Design, Printing, Photography and film and Media Training were absolutely necessary for my course and whilst the faculty for some of these subjects were really bad, some were good. It is also important to mention none of these subjects actually helped us prepare for the real world. Instead internships and freelance helped us more than these subjects could ever do. Exams were held bi monthly to keep track of what we learnt and every 6 months we had our semester exams. Overall if you want to be a media professional INTERNSHIPS AND JOBS WILL HELP YOU MORE THAN A COLLEGE WILL. I am biased on this opinion as my college didnt provide me with the correct guidance and support i needed to make it in the real world.

In case of computer science department, placement is provided at the Last year of M.sc course. Many companies like Wipro, b10x, Tata visited here. Highest package ever is three lakh per annum. 20-40% of the students got placement after completing M.Sc computer science. My plan after B.sc is to pursue MCA.

* It's all about practical knowledge, we are getting from this course and another aspect is if you wants to make your career in research or lecturer then you should go for it. *No changes required in teaching methods but if college will provide hostel facilities and campus requirement drive, then it will better for candidates.
