Entrance Preview

I took AIEEE exam and had AIR OF 216920. my dream was to go to nit jalandhar but due to my rank i had to be in DAV Institute of Engineering and Technology. u thought with the advancement of computer, information technology will have a great scope in the coming years, Moreover i was a computer addict. I did not know at that time that what is c++ so i opted for it.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

Frankly speaking the course is not research oriented but it is cram oriented course. You can get above 70 to 80% if you cram your textbook and understand c++ language in detail. If you understand c++ language then 70% your job is done.

Internships Opportunities

Not much companies came, some of the companies are cadence, eureka, infosys ,l&t infotech, trident softwareetc. it was a waste of six months as these small companies did not have the capabilty to train us, Maximum 10,000 per month was offered by trident software to it and cse students

Placement Experience

3.5

Almost all the students were placed except 4-5 students in our class.the companies offer salaries in range 1.2 lakhs p,a,to 6 lakhs p.a. cipla offered 1.2 lakhs p.a., l&t offered 2 lakhs p.a., wipro offered 3.6 lakhs pa and ibm offered 5 lakhs p.a. Companies give preference to students who score above 70%, the students who score below that have to clear an aptitude and brain memory test which is a bit difficult to clear.

College Events

2

Only two youth festival and diwali fest. nothing interesting is there. only singing, dancing, tambola , drama etc is done the whole day and also no food is provided to the students.

Fees and Financial Aid

yes fee waiver is offered by ptu to the students with annual income less than 4 lakhs per annum. then fees s just 10-20 k per year. if you top your class then 1000 rs per month is given. there are various scholarships for sc. st and obc. also there are some public organisations which offer you scholarship of 1000-2000 rs per month to the general students as well.

Campus Life

2.5

Campus life is great with 9 am to 4:20 pm campus timings with one hour break. saturdays are off. mass bunkings are very common in college . in ece girls are more than boys, in cse and it gender ratio is 1, in civil and electrical ther are 7-10 girls among 60 students and in mechanical deptt. there are all 60 boys.there are very less extracurricular activities but there is very importance given to sports.all the sports are plyed with different levels. starting from table tennis to handball etc. robotics is organised for ece, it and cse students with no practical knowledge.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

It is the best part of our college. No ragging report has been reported till now since the start of college. hostel are clean. the punjabis are ofcourse very good to fight but they won;t say of you won,t talk or trouble with them. the mess food is excelle

Alumni/Alumna

Yes there is an alumni who is working in the US he is years elder then me. he recommended this college to me. but he was a type of student who always came first in class starting from nursery to B.Tech final year. The seniors ere very helpful. i always asked about the future topics , their difficulty level and how to deal with the topics. they told me about their internship and placement experience also which helped me in getting throygh them.

Faculty

3.5

Faculty, they are very helpful and understand the problems of students. They are not very genius but you can say they have a good hold on topic.

Companies start coming summer internships in the 5th and 6th semester though ,CG cuts are imposed so very less students are elgible to sit for these companies, The real placement season is 7th and 8th semester and many companies visit campus for placements. around 60 percent students got placed in the recent placement drive. The major recruiters are: Oracle, CISCO, JPMC,Deloite,IBM,ZS etc.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The interest in coding influenced me to choose this subject and course. The curriculum gets me ready for a 9-5 job which kind of gets hectic. The teachers could maybe schedule classes to give the students time to study what they want to and if they wish to do a course outside the university they have the time to do so rather than just going by the university curriculum
