NIT Jamshedpur, B.Tech {Hons.}, Production Engineering

Remarks

In my experience I have spent my best 4 years of my life in NIT Jamshedpur. All the management staff, teacher, and others whenever required has helped me or my friend in all the conditions. They are doing there best to make this institution a more better place to be and I believe one day people will not need introduction for my college the name will be enough.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

Curriculum is quite good. My stream was mostly based on the industrial engineering and some what to the production. The curriculum is properly designed based upon the Industry requirement although some of the new subject can also be introduced but overall it's okay. Mostly you will production methods and also the industrial engineering concepts which are applied in all the industry to improve the productivity and as well as efficient ways to do the work. The curriculum helped me to get a deep understanding of all the industrial engineering concepts and applications.

Placement Experience

4.5

Since being the institute of national importance the placement of the college is quite good most of the reputed company like Tata, Ashok Leyland, Maruti Suzuki, Hero visit our campus in recruitment process. Apart from these there are several other companies who visit are campus to recruit the students. General steps followed in the recruitment process includes Written round Followed by 2 or 3 rounds of the technical interview And in the last hr interview so as to check whether you will fit into the company or not. Around 85 to 90 percent of students get placed every year from my branch and all of them at a good pay. The reason behind this good percentage of students getting placed is the determination and will of the institute to provide all the necessary help to students to get placed that is conducting mock gd, interview etc.

College Events

4.5

Ojass is the techno management fest of NIT Jamshedpur. It is the second largest fest after IIT Kharagpur in that zone. Participants from different colleges in a huge number visit our college. The total footfall that follows in the fest is around 50000. Culfest is the cultural fest of NIT Jamshedpur every year it is celebrated in February. This fest is one of its own and around 1000 of participants from different colleges take part into it. Numerous of big celebrity have come into our college till now for our culfest one of the latest is Jubin Nautiyal, one of the best singer right now.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure as revised by government of India is based upon the annual income of the family so people who are having low income have to pay less so it can be said that it is feasible. I don't know the exact figures as it keeps on changing but what I know is that if someone is not having enough money to pay on their own. Then the government is also providing them the education loan at less intrest rate and with the reputation of institution one can easily get the loan.

Fees and Financial Aid

No I haven't opted for education loan or scholarship as there was no need from my side. College does not offer scholarship but there are several scholarship available which one could avail of like Ffe, national scholarship scheme, or ekalyan especially for the jharkhand residents. So these three are easiest to get as the only criteria to get these are that you must have been admitted to a college and your parents income is below 1 lakhs.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

Yes, everyone have to take hostel. As its fee is low since it's a government college. But the hostel are at par with the best private colleges in the country who are charging handsome amount of money. Everyone is provided single room in the college. Rooms are quite spacious and well maintained by college staff.

Alumni/Alumna

The alumni network is quite good. Every year before the placement seasons we do connect with our alumni for bringing there company for campus visit and they provide us the required help. Apart from this they also provide help for the development of Institution. Some of alumni have provided scholarship to some talented students to help them to achieve their goals.

Admission

In order to get admission into any NITs one need to write Joint entrance examination called as Jee mains and once you qualify in this examination everyone is issued a rank based on the marks you get. If you manage to get a good rank you will surely get into any one of the 32 NITs. The exam happens in the first week of April and in may the results are announced. Once the results are announced in month of June counseling process begins which generally happens in four round. You can apply to different colleges in counselling and based on the ranks you will be allotted on of the branches in college. If you manage to get college then you have to go for admission to the respective college and get admitted into the institute.

Faculty

4

All the faculty in the college are PhD qualified and have a great experience of the subject. They take you through the basic of a subject to the deep and profound knowledge of the subject. Any student who is interested in proper understanding are given a attention by the teacher. Age of the teacher vary from 45 to 50 in average. In a semester the number of lectures one take is 30 to 40. Some of the lecture have a great industrial experience too which help them to visualise all the concepts based upon the Industrial requirements.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Actually my branch is Electronics and communication engineering but my major interest lies in development area , i have gained all the skills in my college by my own taking some guidance from the seniors as they are very helpful and supporting. Improvements in course curriculum could be like they have to basically add one more course or any training program to help students for making skills and teaching them for their placements.(apart of the course , i am saying not because i am from ECE department , its common from any branch student)
