Remarks

College left a very ill feeling in me. It made me lose the interest in learning. I can't fully blame them, but they are the main reason. Only positive thing would be meeting a good set of friends. If not for them I would have dropped out for sure. I went just to finish the degree and get it over with

Course Curriculum Overview

1.5

The course I felt was very outdated. We studied c programming for 6 semesters. And I had be taught that in school. So 6 semesters or 3 years of repeating school with few extra theory papers. That is what the course was. So it was a very chilled phase. College wasn't meant for learning, rather a time to good around with friends.

Placement Experience

3.5

I don't know how the college does it, but there are many companies that come with job offers. But most of them are IT jobs. And those who are part of the IT stream isn't a restriction. So any other engineering stream students could get an IT job. So overall let's say it's a decent amount of job offers. No internship from the college is given, but they encourage you to get one for the final semester. It's not compulsory. For people who opt to go to internship on their own they are paid around 0-10k rupees.

College Events

2.5

A symposium for each branch. It is organised my the 3rd year students mostly. And it's volunteer. I have never been part of any of it. It's very boring. So I don't know the exact details of it. Mostly other schools members are expected to come to these but they rarely do.

Fee Structure And Facilities

It is 1 lakh for an year. The course is 4 years. So a total of 4 lakhs plus 'management' fee of 2 lakh (in my case) So 6 lakhs for a 4 year course. I would say it's quite feasible. The management fee varies from person to person. And if you have a scholarship / merit it's 70k per year if I'm not wrong.

Fees and Financial Aid

I have no knowledge about this, as I didn't pay for college by taking a loan. But friends did take loans to pay for college, but I'm sure none of them was offered by the college. The interest rate was pretty standard is everyone's case

Campus Life

1

Generally there are more boys than girls. But in my department it was almost equal. And biotechnology had more girls. Overall the no.of boys are way over the no.of girl. There is strictly parties of any sort in the campus. But my friend who are part of the dorm sneak in drinks and have a mini party of sorts Decent amount of workshops are conducted. It's fully indians, and mostly south indians. Admission process varies based on caste. But students rarely mind those things.

Alumni/Alumna

There is no such network. Seniors were easy to get along. Few of them try to harass. It could be taken as light humour or you could report it and get them suspended. So the first years have all the power. I don't think they had a big effect of me. But everything they told about the college was true

Admission

I liked computers since school, and solving logical problems in math. And computer plus math program would have been my choice, but my mother wanted me to be an engineer, a typical Indian thing if you are a girl make her a doctor, a guy? Engineering. So I had to pick this. And I wasn't very serious, so I took two entrance exams in two colleges and failed in both. So I landed in rajalakshmi engineering college, a 'management seat'.

Faculty

2

Mixed. Some of them were very good. They were knowledgeable and had rapport with the students. But most of them just do it as a job, teach of the book to get you a passing grade. Qualified as we are to understand is to have the required degree, yes they had the degree but they weren't the least bit qualified to educate others(most of them that is)
