Remarks

Overall, the college is a below average college. There are far better colleges in India, and none of the VTU colleges are one. Due to the high bias against South Indians, the excessive fee structure, only thouree cousres available (Computer science, electrical, and mechanical), below avergae placements, no concern for or empathy towards students, and incompetent teachers, I don't recommend this college to anyone.

Course Curriculum Overview

3

Curriculum is very old and hardly of any significance in the modern world. Exam structure is 3 internal assessment tests with the best of two taken, and an external exam by the University. The internal exams are a bit difficult than the external ones. Neither the curriculum nor the exams are research driven. No industrial visits or seminars are ever provided to students. Only concentration is on attendance and fake academics.

Placement Experience

2.5

The placement is a little below average. No steps were ever taken by the institution to prepare students for placements. Intact, good companies offering students a good package and a 3-4 month internship opportunity are forcefully turned down by the college simply because internship in a period other than the one specified by the college and exceeding a period of 2 mothns is unacceptable by the college.

College Events

0.5

There is no technical and management fests. There is just a cultural fest which is funded ENTIRELY by students and alumni. Hardly anyone goes to these fests except the organisers. The college can never compete with other colleges in such events, simply because of their lack of means.

Fee Structure And Facilities

I'll explain it vividly. There are thouree categories; management, Comed-k and KCET. For management it's 5lac/pa. Fir Comed-k its 1.8 lac/pa. For KCET its 32,000/pa. No transparency in fees structure. Its only whimsical. No financial waiver is provided to needy students, I being one of them. I have met students who have no one in their families and still not a penny is reduced for such students.

Fees and Financial Aid

No scholarships are provided. I took a student loan from a bank and fir that i needed the fee structure from the college and the bonafide certificate.

Campus Life

2.5

Gender ratio is approx 1:3. Mostly south Indians because of such a cheap fee provision for them. Very biased towards South Indians. Labs are old and out of equipments. No extracurricular ever; no technical events. People who are dirt rich mostly study here. And others on a loan.

Hostel Facilities

2.5

Yes. For the first two years. Annual fees was 1.21 lac/pa. No wifi, no leisure space, 4 girls stuffed in a room, poor locality and impractical curfew, that being 6 pm. The girl's parents are called even after slight inconvenience. Dinner is okay but breakfast and lunch are non-edible with leftover food items

Alumni/Alumna

Some alumni are constantly in touch with students but this is mostly for the only fest we get. Their is never any session for us to have a talk with the alumuni/ senior students. Naturally the relationship is weak.

Admission

I got the admission via Entrance exam, Comed-k. The admission dates are in early July; first week most probably. The admissions start after a month long counselling wherein the courses are decided based on the merit. It used to be in Bangalore earlier with a tedious thouree to four day work as thousands of students flood in for the VTU entrances. But since 2017, the counselling has been made online. The logic is simple, if a student crosses the certain criteria (in terms of rank) for a certain college in a certain branch, he/she gets it. There are few merit based seats available in the top colleges that Comed-k exam caters, mostly because of their high number of management seats. Also, none but all colleges that fall under this University are highly biased towards South Indians, so they have a spefic test KCET and the college tuition fees are 1/5th for them as compared to the North Indians.

Faculty

2

The faculty is average. Out of a total of approx 35 faculties, a 2 or 3 are PhD holders. Some are even straight out of their homes with insignificant educational background. This is always the case that a single faculty handles 8 different subjects for 8 different semesters. Overall, the faculty is weak in their fields.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Curriculum is a mix of both Computer Science and AIML which is increasingly relevant in today's world. Second year: Subjects like Mathematics for AIML, Data Structures, Stats for Data Science, Computer Networks, Third year: DBMS, ANN, ML operations Some other elevtives are also available and courses like Universal Human Values, POME, EIPR etc. Honestly, POME, EIPR, UHV should have less course credits and probably MCQ type exams (like IC and Yoga in first year). Curriculum is good and updating for applications helped along with projects. Exams are generally once in a month, 1.5 - 2 units for each subject each exam. Lab exams at the very end before CIE marks finalization. Then 2 weeks gap for Lab SEE, then 1 week gap and actual SEE's.

Placement Experience:

KSIT has an average placement rate of 70%-85% depending on the branch . CSE,ISE and ECE branches have higher placements while mechanical and civil have fewer opportunities in IT sector . Average package is about 4-6LPA . KSIT attracts many IT based recruitiers with some core companies for non -IT branches . It also provides pre-placement training, coding boot cams, aptitude tests and soft skills development . Alumni network is moderate, but students need off-campus efforts for high paying jobs
