Srikrishna College Nadia, B. Sc. Honours 3 Year Degree Course

Remarks

None is perfect. So college have some of theirs faults but they try to do everything they can for their students. In our college you have show your ID to enter, that was a really good thing. Teachers were good.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

I did honours in Physics subject. I must say, it's pretty tuff. But the teachers were really good, they helped a lot with study. About Exam Structure, in my 3 years, there were test exams in the end of each year, just before the finals.

Placement Experience

2.5

Now a days it's a little hard to get a permanent job in any college. In my college most of the teachers were guest lecturers. But they often hire some good qualified men/women as lecturers. Secondly, yes they do give stipend for OBC, SC and ST casts. I'm a General. So I don't really know very much.

College Events

4

There are a few events organized in our college by college authorities. There are Annual Sports, a Football match between colleges, A Social Program in every year and they also organize Fresher's welcome for new 1st year students.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Yeah, about that, I'll say its a little high. You have re admitte in every year. As an example, for me, I first paid around 4000 for 1st year admission, cause it's science stream. In 2nd year around 3000 nd for 3rd year around 2700.

Fees and Financial Aid

The only scholarship I know of was Swami Vivekananda Scholarship. For that you have too get 60% in each year. And about loan facility, I don't if they offer it or not, cause never ask for it or seen anyone to ask for it either.

Campus Life

4.5

As I was a science student, so I had to attend Physics and Chemistry lab for 1st and 2nd year. In 3rd year it was only Physics. I must say the labs were pretty good and the lab teachers also. They have almost every equipment we needed and earlier I mentioned about sports.

Alumni/Alumna

The senior students of ours were very much helpful. They did help us with Physics lab equipments when teachers were little busy. They told us about many things before we got in college. They show us every rooms in whole college, that we didn't know about.

Admission

I filled up the admission form. Then on the base of merit, they issued lists. I saw my name on the list. That's how I got admission. Then I took out the challan form and gave it to college office. They verified my documents and I got admitted.

Faculty

4

That's a good question. I'll say the faculty of my college was moderate. They tackle the works good but sometime they create big mess. I stuggle once to submit my review form on a subject. Sometimes the stuffs of office were irregular. Now that's a problem you don't wanna face on a important time of your college.

Placement Experience:

People who major in my department usually opt for masters over placement not because of this college but because overall industrial or academic opportunities are better with a pg degree. Masters from this college is not recommended as i have heard so from my seniors. Some of my seniors managed to crack competitives and secure MSc seats at great places. Training and Placement cell had a good coordinator previously but now its almost non existent. Companies do come and hire Bpharm, Mpharm and MSc candidates. Packages are below average. Only Nestle pays well. But if you do well you'll eventually climb up the corportate ladder. From the time i am here i have not heard of any BSc candidate getting placed. Most go for higher studies.

Placement Experience:

The average package offered for such roles ranges between ?2–3 LPA, while the highest package offered to a BSc student is around ?4 LPA, depending on skills and specialization. Overall, around 15–20% of BSc students get placed through campus drives, and many students rely on off-campus opportunities.

The course is very relevant as it provides us an overall knowledge of biology and not dividing it into various sections rather giving us an insight of every aspect of biology. It includes everything such as microbiology, zoology, botany, physiology, molecular biology and so on.

Completely relevant. As the college is autonomous it has its own syllabus. Which matches with the net gate jam exam syllabus. When someone came our college for seminar they strange that we know this much. Exam are quite difficult in 2 months interval.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum was well thought out as per me but there were subjects that i found absolutely unnecessary. Subjects like history evs and clc were in no way related to my course. Coming to the main subjects Design, Printing, Photography and film and Media Training were absolutely necessary for my course and whilst the faculty for some of these subjects were really bad, some were good. It is also important to mention none of these subjects actually helped us prepare for the real world. Instead internships and freelance helped us more than these subjects could ever do. Exams were held bi monthly to keep track of what we learnt and every 6 months we had our semester exams. Overall if you want to be a media professional INTERNSHIPS AND JOBS WILL HELP YOU MORE THAN A COLLEGE WILL. I am biased on this opinion as my college didnt provide me with the correct guidance and support i needed to make it in the real world.

In case of computer science department, placement is provided at the Last year of M.sc course. Many companies like Wipro, b10x, Tata visited here. Highest package ever is three lakh per annum. 20-40% of the students got placement after completing M.Sc computer science. My plan after B.sc is to pursue MCA.

* It's all about practical knowledge, we are getting from this course and another aspect is if you wants to make your career in research or lecturer then you should go for it. *No changes required in teaching methods but if college will provide hostel facilities and campus requirement drive, then it will better for candidates.
