Remarks

Overall I enjoyed my tenure in School of Computer Science, DAVV, Indore.I do not collect any bad remark. My batch was very much in love with the college that we all usually spent around 10-12 hours in campus only even if there are no classes.

Entrance Preview

For MCA there is Pre-MCA entrance test organized by MP professional examination board ( earlier known as VYAPAM). For MSC University itself organizes CET accross India. I appeared in Pre-MCA and stood 21st in all India Ranking system. I opted for this college as in MP it is number one ranked college for MCA/MSc.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The MCA or MSc course curriculum is up-to-dated and revised every few year to match the industry norms. Study is more oriented towards practical than theory. Curriculum includes not only technical subjects but also communication skills, inter-personal skills, managerial skills and Industrial professionalism.

Internships Opportunities

During my tenure at college not each student could get internship easily. Even the company where student placed did not offered internship at that time. However, now the situation is changed and many companies offer internship to the students of SCS.Stipend is varied between 5K to 10K.

Placement Experience

4.5

Placements are near about 100% for MCA students and for MSc (CS/IT) students too placements is around 80%.Most of MNCs are regular to the campus e.g. TCS, Infosys, WIPRO, Accenture, Impetus, CSC, Cognizant, Capgamini etc.

College Events

4

College organizes a techno managerial event where various competitions are organized including LAN Games, Code champs, Extempore, Paper presentation, Financial games, Fun games, ad-mad a few to name. This is inter college event where all the engineering and management colleges of MP participates.Apart from this event there is also inter UTD(University teaching Department) competitions held which includes various sports and cultural activities.

Fee Structure And Facilities

School of Computer Science and IT is a teaching department of Devi Ahilya University. It is considered as semi government college so fee structure is affordable. Fees in My tenure (2005-08) was 35K per year for 3 years.(except hostel charges)

Fees and Financial Aid

I know that almost every nationalized bank offer education loan for my college. Other Scholarships are same as provided in any other college for ST/ST/OBC students.

Campus Life

4.5

Gender ratio in my college is balanced as in MCA there are more boys than girls while in MSc (CS and IT) there are always more girls than boys. So over all ratio is balanced. Apart from college's own techno-managerial fest university's other departments also organizes different competitions and students take part in all of them. For sports also university itself organizes inter UTD championships in all category. University also organizes inter university youth festival every year which a good platform for student to show cultural talent. The quality of all events is good and provide best exposure a student can get. Labs are well equipped.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

Devi Ahilya University has a very few hostels, around 3-4 boys hostel and 2 girls hostel as per my knowledge. All the hostels are considered as livable and any normal student can survive at mess food. Apart from it the university campus area is full with many affordable private options such as PGs, rented room, private hostels and many cheap lunch homes which provide good food at nominal rate.

Alumni/Alumna

College organizes alumni meet each year, however, I could not join till now any such event due to personal reasons. When I was student in college many seniors who were working in big MNCs used to visit college and give valuable advise on current trends in IT industry. Now also many of my classmates and my seniors are regular visitors of college. They share a good rapport with current students.

Exam Structure

MSc and MCA are semester based courses. Classes are labs are not very frequent and over loaded. So students get time to chill out. Even sometimes lectures are transformed into general talk shows.

Faculty

4.5

During my tenure and also at present most of the faculties are well qualified and passed out from prominent colleges like IITs and international universities. Many professors having experience of teaching in international universities. Other faculties have IT industry professional experience.
