REMARKS
College management is good but it can be better. The University has lots of changes to make in terms of infrastructure. But it is a good college with lots of good faculties and students. As the university is huge it provides buses for students. It is very much safe even in night. But beware of snakes during rainy season.
FEE STRUCTURE AND FACILITIES
Admission fees to this course is around 40,000. For those who are from ST/SC category or other backward class can provide the income certificate for lower fees for admission. The amount for admission covers first semester too. Then from 2nd semester 17000-18000 is to be paid for each semester henceforth. The semester fees are to be paid online through e-governance portal which has the fee breakdown and the total sum of money to be paid. There are no additional charges to be paid other than those required.
PLACEMENT WING
There lots of companies visiting for offering placements to the students are Amazon, Teradata, TCS, ThinCI, CGS and many more. Around 60-70% students were given placements this year. Adobe only recruited female student this year. The students are prepared and they can also take advice from the faculty to prepare themselves for placement season. The highest salary package was 42 LPA this year. Usually the average salary package is 6-8 LPA
ADMISSION
Admission in MCA is through NIMCET entrance which is held by NIT. Then you need to apply or fill the form for MCA admission in University of Hyderabad website. The university will call you for counselling where you will be given seat in MCA based on the rank in NIMCET. Its also done in first come and first serve basis. if you come late then your seat will be given to the person whose rank is after yours. Also anyone can apply to this course not just computer students.
HOSTEL FACILITIES
University has 23 hostels including 8 hostels for female students. The hostel fees are minimal and for those who are in caste category can provide their income certificate which allows them to not pay for accomodation. The girls hostel 1 to 6 are on north campus where 7 and 8 are on south campus. The hostel(1-3) are kind of small which can be spacious only for one but sometimes 2 students share the room. Other hostel rooms are spacious for 2 people. There is one mess for north campus and one mess for the south campus. The food quality is average. The mess fees are calculated separately. If you don't eat in the mess then you don't have to pay for it. Its totally optional.
ALUMNI
MCA in University of Hyderabad is very tight knitted community like. Everyone helps anyone whose in need which applies to the alumni as well as seniors. They help in writing you recommendation letter for job or provide guidance. There help has been insightful and supportive. If you need help in your studies then you can ask your seniors for notes or books. MCA seniors share their books with their juniors.
FACULTY
The number of lecturers in MCA course is around 40. Each of them are highly qualified and middle aged. Most of them are working in the University for more than 25 year and are highly knowledgeable in their respective fields. Every lecturer is very helpful to the students. They clear all doubts even if it isn't related to the syllabus. Some of the lecturers have previously worked in IT industries like Microsoft, Google and TCS.
CAMPUS LIFE
Gender ratio in the campus is equal. There are lot of cultural societies in which you can participate or get into. There are lots of NRI students as well as students from all over the country. There are lots of support groups too. Everyone here is friendly and polite to each other. There no dorm parties but you can have one if you wish as warden doesn't stay there. The environment is the best part of the university as it has 2300 acres which has lots of greenery, huge rocks, lakes and wildlife too.
COURSE CURRICULUM OVERVIEW
The course curriculum is similar to the NIT college. It is a three year program but from this year it will be a 2 year program as the first year is a basic course mainly for those who are new to this field. The course curriculum is well structured. Everything you need to learn to acquire a job in IT field is taught in this course. It starts with basic subjects which is needed for building foundation. In the last year, a project is given for the students to test their knowledge and challenge them to be creative and innovative. Many IT industry come to the University to recruit students.
COLLEGE EVENTS
There are lots of events held in the University from technical to cultural. The most famous is the Sukoon cultural event. There are lots of programming events like Hackathon. Hackathon also has a cash prize of 1 lakh. In 2018, hackathon was won by MCA student. Anyone can participate in these events.
LOAN/ SCHOLARSHIP PROVISIONS
The college offers scholarship of 10,000-12,000 annually. To avail this scholarship you need to fill the form and need to provide certificates that are required. If there's any doubt you can take assistance in your department. The eligibility criteria to avail this scholarship is for only caste category students and whose household income is less than 2 LPA.
