I chose to attend university of patanjali as it offers subjects not all colleges do, they focus on vedic education. And their campus is really clean and green with lush green lawns and gardens, they have excellent facilities for sports and yoga, they've got a huge hall (Yog Bhawan) where one can perform various indoor activities such as yoga, basketball, badminton, gymnastics, skateboarding, kabbadi, etc also apart from the clean and peaceful campus the mess food their is very good unlike others, they serve pure veg (no onion, garlic) food and seasonal beverages such as lassi, chaach, etc .We have to recite sanskrit prayers before eating. This college is perfect for someone who wants to pursue yoga as everyone can be seen practising yoga any time of the day. For admission they conduct a exam for which the forms have to be filled during july, after passing the exam there is a seven day shivir where they test your physical capability followed by an interview.
I chose bpes (sports) course as I was into sports since school, and wanted to make a future in this field. There are 20 students in my class. The quality of teaching is good especially the practical part. My teachers are well qualified and they use different methods for complete understanding (audio visuals, practical demonstration). It's a three year course i.e. six semesters you have to pass all subjects in order to receive your report card of that year. There are 4 subjects in one semester. You can write exams in any language (english /hindi) whichever you feel comfortable in. Also there are three to four practicals each sem. Making it a total of 8 subjects. Apart from our regular teachers we get special classes from IIT sports faculties and Swami Ramdev himself.
You can do summer internships, but not provided by college you have to look up on your own. I have done quite a few internships during my 2nd year of college.
Almost every student secures a job after graduation, with many reputated companies hiring from patanjali. I plan to work as a yoga instructor and get an experience of the field and also Excel further in my field. The best and most sought after company according to me would be cult fit.
It comes out to be a total of Rs 50,000 for a sem (6months) everything included (hostel, food , tution, facilities, etc) also scholarship is provided to top 3 scorers of the class. Financial assistance is provided to those in need, one can ask for some fee exemption if faced with financial problems. Many good fitness companies (cultfit, zorba) hire students every year for jobs like yoga trainer, gym instructor, fitness trainer. Also one can also get jobs in Patanjali itself. One can also go to abroad and become a yoga trainer there as the demand for trainers overseas are very high. Stipends can range anywhere from (20k-30k) + perks.
Campus life is very happening, with two major fest that are the annual day and annual sports day. Apart from these two there are various cultural programs in between. Most of them are for a social cause. But we don't hold a freshers part like other colleges. Also the program here are more cultural and yoga performances. Bollywood songs and western performances are avoided.the best part for me was the sports facilities and the peaceful environment with mountains visible from hostel balcony.
Boys hostel was really fun with three students accommodated in one room with attached bathroom. But we are to be shifted in new hostel by the end of this year. The quality of meal is the best you could ask for, no complaints in that department. If a student wants to rent a PG or room that is also available with wide options available near the college ranging from cheap to expensive.
They conduct a exam and then conduct an interview, also 50% weight-age is given to class 12th merit.
First and foremost is the MCQ exam which consists of general board level question also yoga related questions and vedic knowledge (mahabharata, gita) . It's easy to crack with no negative marking. Those who clear the exam have to attend a 7 day shivir to pass the fitness standards. After which is a personal interview. Total score of the above three plus 50% weight-age of class 12th percentage is the final result based on which the student is admissible.
