Course Curriculum Overview
The first year is a mix of general mgmt, marketing, finance, HR and consulting. For second year, each participant designs their own course from a bouquet of offerings.
Internships Opportunities
Median stipend is INR 40,000. You get internships in marketing, finance, sales or general management. There are very few internship opportunities for consulting or HR roles.
Placement Experience
There is 100% placement inside IIM Indore. Marquee recruiters include KPMG, Coca cola, P&G, HUL, RB, delloitte, StanC, Citi, BOFA, Frito lay. Median package at my time was INR 14 lakhs for domestic and INR 20 lakhs for foreign placements.
College Events
The management festival is IRIS. Its an inter college event and attracts participants from all other IIMs, XLRI and other top notch MBA colleges. The cultural event draws participants from other colleges of Indore city.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Fees in IIMs are quite expensive. Be prepared to shell out around INR 15 lakhs for a 2 year's course. The same include tuition fees, books, hostel, canteen and other infrastructure costs.
Fees and Financial Aid
SBI and State Bank of Indore provide attractive interest rates. The loan covers college fees plus a top up for monthly pocket expenses. Economically backward students gets 50% to 75% fee waiver by management.
Campus Life
The gender ratio is skewed here. The m:f ratio is 5:2. There are participants from almost every state of India and exchange program brings participants from France, Germany, Belgium and New Zealand. The college is setup on a hill top. So every winter night, there are clouds and breeze on hostel terrace, so there is a party on almost every alternate night in hostel terrace.
Alumni/Alumna
The alumni network was a red mark on the overall experience. But now, efforts have been put up to connect everyone through social media. Every year an event called Footprints is organized inviting all alum to campus. There are local chapters in all major cities where Alumn organize their own get together and a Pam IIM event is also planned this year.
Faculty
50% faculty is in-house and 50% is visiting faculty. These are distinguished personalities and studying under them is the honor beyond imagination. For me, one course had faculty none other than late APJ Abdul Kalaam.
