Dyal Singh College, BA {Hons.}, English

Reviewed on Sep 9, 2020

Remarks

I initially took admission in deshbandhu college ( delhi university) after second cutoff later when third cutoff was released by the university I migrated to Dyal singh college, delhi university (day). The college was named among the best of all around the city, also it was closer to.my residential place so choosing dyal singh college helped me saving lots of time. Another reason was that it haa great accessibility as delhi metro JLN station (purple line) is attached to the college also there is a bus depot that connects all part of delhi with college. The college has big campus for its huge numbers of students. There are different sports and societies for the character building and physical development of the students. It also provides lots of opportunities and has placement cell as well. The college offers lots of events full of fun and entertainment. So if you are looking for a perfect college to get admission in I would suggest you to personally visit the colleges once and interact with students it would help you a lot choosing the best for you.

Course Curriculum Overview

The college offers a variety of different courses, I chose B.A.(hons) English, the syllabus was specified and introduced very quickly in every semester. The faculty was good they were always there to help students.

Class Size: 50Course Fees: INR 33000 per year

Placement Experience

3.5

The placement cell of the college invites many big MNCs and local companies to invest in students and hire them for the productivity of both the student as well as the company. The placement took place as very simple, from registration to appear for interviews once cleared the student is hired for respective company. The package they provide is too good for freshers.

College Events

4.5

The campus was great, I was the part of college cricket team and had so much fun for a period of 3 years. The campus has lots of cultural societies that manages all the festivals and events. Students from all over the delhi university participate in them and the winners are presented with certificate and prizes.

Campus Life

The college also offers lots of other facilities that helps a student to develop physically and mentally. It has many sports, a big library, wifi, labs well equipped, there were different societies that is working on students skill development and boosts their confidence.

Likes

Placement was among the best and most the top companies visited
Infrastructure was appreciable with no major shortage of laboratories
Senior-Junior interaction compensated the average faculty

Dislikes

Outdated curriculum negatively impacted the conceptual clarity
Too difficult to secure good grades due to strict marking
Mediocre support provided to student led initiative

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course curriculum was evidently outdated and irrelevant to modern engineering challenges and could have severely disadvantaged students' learning outcomes. Although, interaction with seniors compensated this.

The companies coming for internships are great
The experienced faculty who came from IIMs
The experienced clubs and their guidance

Dislikes

There is bit of mismanagement experienced,
There is last minute information available at the end moment
Disclarity in information throughout the whole semester

Placement Experience:

It is okay and it is based on luck of the student more than hardwork. You also have to network super well to get into good dream companies. It is a good place to get it out of luck through ATS sysytem.

Wonderful life experience that can't be forgotten.

Remarks:

Good Remark: The college environment made it possible for me to have great friends and be the person who I have become. The teachers and facilities of well-equipped labs, guest lectures, events, library, etc. made it possible for us to have a great campus life. Bad Remark: The college management needs to update the library norms that they have (which made it difficult for us to have books for the weekend to study) and also need to provide students with better placement opportunities from the same field as the specializations.
