Remarks

Because it provided the stream that I was interested in. This was the only University in West Bengal which provided this stream. Plus the faculty was nice and the location was convenient as well. The counselling and the aid given in career placement is also commendable.

Course Curriculum Overview

The academics are satisfactory. The facilities have a lot of room for improvement. There needs to be more extra curricular activities. The facilities should be given a more rigorous training so that they can handle and teach the students better.

Placement Experience

1.5

The placement and job opportunities provided by the college leaves much to be desired. The median salary that the students are given are also extremely unsatisfactory. The help given to entrepreneurial ideas is also limited.

College Events

3.5

The campus life was satisfactory is general. Due to the anti-ragging policies there are no inconveniences in that regard. The cultural and tech fests were pretty exciting although the involvement and participation from other colleges leaves more to be desired.

Campus Life

The campus size is satisfactory. The size of the football and cricket ground is pretty small. The equipments in the lab are in dire need of an upgrade. The size of the library is large. The speed of the Wifi and the bandwidth allocated is extremely unsatisfactory along with the data allocated for daily use.

Hostel Facilities

There are three hostel buildings for males and three hostel buildings for females. The two hostel wings are seperated from each other. The facilities are satisfactory albeit the room size being a bit on the smaller size. The water and food supply is satisfactory. The hostel rooms are for sharing although there are some single rooms as well. The PGs found around are cheaper to stay in but the quality of the boarding is far less than that of the hostels.

Placement Experience:

People who major in my department usually opt for masters over placement not because of this college but because overall industrial or academic opportunities are better with a pg degree. Masters from this college is not recommended as i have heard so from my seniors. Some of my seniors managed to crack competitives and secure MSc seats at great places. Training and Placement cell had a good coordinator previously but now its almost non existent. Companies do come and hire Bpharm, Mpharm and MSc candidates. Packages are below average. Only Nestle pays well. But if you do well you'll eventually climb up the corportate ladder. From the time i am here i have not heard of any BSc candidate getting placed. Most go for higher studies.

I choose this course because the curriculum combines clear theoretical foundations with strong practical exposure, and hands on session influenced by decision most. The exam pattern was good. Moderate paper was there. Examiner had done a great job. For the curriculum we always had to pay extra money. In our 7th sem, we had all India tour, we did have any practical classes or theory exam still we had to pay for the practical and library not only that we had to pay for the trip as well.

Reviewed on Dec 17, 2024(Enrolled 2020)

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum was well thought out as per me but there were subjects that i found absolutely unnecessary. Subjects like history evs and clc were in no way related to my course. Coming to the main subjects Design, Printing, Photography and film and Media Training were absolutely necessary for my course and whilst the faculty for some of these subjects were really bad, some were good. It is also important to mention none of these subjects actually helped us prepare for the real world. Instead internships and freelance helped us more than these subjects could ever do. Exams were held bi monthly to keep track of what we learnt and every 6 months we had our semester exams. Overall if you want to be a media professional INTERNSHIPS AND JOBS WILL HELP YOU MORE THAN A COLLEGE WILL. I am biased on this opinion as my college didnt provide me with the correct guidance and support i needed to make it in the real world.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum is perceived as average , lacking specific elements that might make it stand out. In my case, the motivation was not to waste a year by opting for a drop. The flexibility in attendance which let me focus on other interests. The curriculum is same as MAKAUT, and the exam frequency is also controlled by MAKAUT .Areas of improvement is infrastructure and better faculty.
