Entrance Preview

I took CET after completing 12th in 2010.I scored 138 in Exam and attended the TNEA Counselling. After 2010,State has abolished CET exam and only marks scored in 12th is being considered for Engineering admissions.I was pretty confused and my parents wanted me to put in Chennai to get the city exposure. They required about the college and its placement record from a unknown source.Based on those information,my uncle chose the sairam engineering college. But I didn't expect that my college years will turn to be worst phase of my life.

Course Curriculum Overview

3

Course curriculum is based on anna university syllabus. You can refer to the anna university website to get the clear idea about the subjects.First year will be common subject across all departments including physics, chemistry, english, maths. ECE had 4 maths papers -Maths1, maths2, random process and numerical methods.Electives will be decided only by HOD's. Students will have no say in choosing electives.College doesn't have any research facility.so the option for research is very less here.Electric ckts and devices, ckt analysis,Electric circutis 1 and 2,digital,microprocessors and microcontrollers, signals and systems are important papers from ECE. Ensure to learn one programming language.C,C++,Java.Placement questions will be focussed around your Programming skill.Be ensure to have strong knowledge in one of those.

Internships Opportunities

College doesn't provide internship as far as my experience.back in 2003-2004,companies used to take people for internship. From there on,I haven't seen any company taking people for internship until the latest 2016 batch as per the information I obtained from the juniors.

Placement Experience

2

Placement record is ok. TCS, Inautix, infosys, tech mahindra, HCL are the regular who come for placement and they take pretty decent numbers.Average salary is 3 lakhs pa. But now, placements have decreased in the college.Don't go by the papers ads or information given in college website or some 3rd party,Check with current passed out or final year students to know about the ground reality of placements in college.few bpo companies to come and recruit students in case Major IT companies don't come.

College Events

1

Symposiums, cultural events, sports events, IT Visits are there. You will have to literally beg the department HOD to arrange for all those events.Funds provided by the departments are very little. We had to pay from our packets to arrange for IT Visit, tour and symposiums. All events are held just for sake and show case.I literally didn't fund any enjoyment in the event held in the college. If you have arrears or failed any unit test,They will not allow you participate in symposium, cultural, sports events.Hostel day is celebrated for hosteler which is pretty good.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Expensive to the core. They overcharge and literally loot the hard earned money of your parents for average infrastructure they provide including labs, class rooms, mess, hostel, etcs.Apart from this,be prepared to pay fines like coming unshaved,Not having ID Cards, not appearing for tests, not abiding to college dress code, not having proper haircut, etc.Do check out the link in q.13 for more information.

Fees and Financial Aid

They provide scholarships university ranker and they do provide educational assistance in case you do higher studies in any world class university

Campus Life

2

Gender ratio is pretty equal in most departments excluding mechanical, civil.Boys will not be allowed talk to girls in college promises. Its one of the rule of the institution. If you are caught,You will be humiliated either by badmouthing or in some case, boy will be beaten insanely by campus head - balu.Forget about parties, workshops are held often for some of the departments focusing on certain fields. You can take part in extracurricular, sports, other college symposiums provided you don't have any arrears or failed in unit test. They allow only few students to take part in activites with approval obtained from HOD and Class teacher

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni network is available. But I don't have any experience meeting seniors in the alumni. I only communicate through social media.

Exam Structure

Exam structure is the worst and really takes huge toll on the students. They conduct 2-3 unit test every semester, one model exam before Main sem exam.If you fail in unit test, you will have to apply for 2-3 re test until you pass that particular test.Your ID will be removed by college management if you don't apply for the tests and some case will have to pay fine of certain amount. If you are a hosteler, You won't be allowed for outing. They will check the marks you scored in unit tests.Same applies for other exams as well.If you score a arrear in semester exams,You will be literally screwed. You along with your parents will be called for counselling.Counselling process includes Adminstration badmouthing your parents and humilating you in front of your parents.I had one arrear and was asked to come for counselling by morning 10:00 AM.My uncle came and he was forced to wait till evening 5:30 pm.They will not let us until we complete the counselling. My uncle became dizzy and dehydraded waiting for more than 6 hours. It was one of the most embarrassing points of my college life.I was badmouthed by college administration and was forced to write a apology letter for scoring a arrears. Students having arrears will have be forced to sit through evening special class till 6 pm.Do check out the links posted under Q.13 for more information.

Faculty

2.5

Faculty of the college is okayish and average.Certain faculties have vast amount of experience and deep knowledge in subjects.certain faculties have just completed B.E. and their teaching is very substandard. Lab assistants are pretty good and help us during practicals.Few teachers help us whenever you need assistance and guide us in project work.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course because it covers important subjects related to computer science, programming, databases, networking, and emerging technologies. The combination of theoretical knowledge and practical subjects influenced my decision to choose this course. The curriculum provides a good foundation in technical concepts and programming. However, more practical projects, industry-based training, internships, and real-world applications would help students become better prepared for careers and further studies.
