Remarks
It has the best faculty, placements, facilities and infrastructure. It has a playground, nice lab equipment, computer protected classes, gym, swimming pool. But I'm not satisfied with the hostel and food facilities. The admission process is tedious with multiple steps in the process. Confirmation of the candidate's details like educational career, Fee payment, Provision of ID card, Provision of Hostel. I've opted for LPU because it is ICAR Accreditated private university which gives immense value for my degree certificate which gives me that extra edge over other universities. I've got to know about LPU through TV advertisements.
Course Curriculum Overview
I've opted for this course because it has a very good scope in the future since this is a sector in which development is required for creating more jobs. Faculty: Student Ratio is 1:60 in lecture class and 1:30 in practical class. The maximum of the teachers are helpful, qualified and knowledgeable for the lesson teaching and doubt clearance process. I've experienced the best teaching quality at the university with live plant specimens in the classroom. The teachers explain concepts in a very understandable manner to the students. The exams are conducted in two divisions Mid Term Test and End Term Test including practical viva per semester. The exams difficulty level is fair.
Internships Opportunities
Approximately 80% of students got an internship as a horticulturist, sourcing intern, business development intern in companies like farmers fresh zone, eco zen solutions. Top roles are Agriculture Research Scientist, Agriculture Officer, Plantation Manager, Quality Assurance Officer, Farm Manager.
Placement Experience
The students become eligible in the 8th(last) semester for campus placements. Almost 60% of the students were placed in my course. Highest salary package offered is 5.5 LPA, the average is 3.5-4 LPA, lowest is 2.5 LPA. Companies like Syngenta, UPL, Mahindra, HDFC Bank visited. My plans after graduation are to pursue higher studies like MSc in Genetics.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee structure is Tution fee-Rs 180000/year, Mess fee-26000 to 30000/year, Hostel fee-65000/year (varies according to the room selected), Laundry-3000/year. The scholarship is provided to us based on the percentage achieved by the student in a knowledge test called LPU-NEST that will be held by the university authorities and also the percentage of marks achieved by the student in intermediate board exams. They provide a maximum of up to 50% scholarship on "tution fee" but remaining hostel, mess fee etc. are same for everyone. The educational loan will not be provided by the college but it only gives a form regarding it.
Campus Life
Events and fests like Youth Vibe keep on happening throughout the year with celebrities attending the campus. Extracurricular activities like anchoring, cultural arts, fines arts etc are held. A huge library is present in the university with all the required books. Amenities like wifi, computer projectors, live specimens, elevators, stationery etc. are present. Gym, Indoor sports, swimming pool are present. There are different organisations like Agrinians, Black Current etc in which I'm a member of infrastructures like a hospital and pharmacy is present inside the university itself but medicines are a bit pricey.
Hostel Facilities
I've opted for a 4 seater AC Room for which the fee was Rs.65000 which provides 2 fans, 1 Window AC (old model), 1 locker per candidate, 1 restroom per room in the hostel. The mess fee is Rs.25000 - 30000 based on the plate size we select. I'm not satisfied with the meal quality it's average. Non-vegetarian foods are strictly prohibited in the university. There are 2 different food menus North Indian and South Indian menus, we can choose any menu there are no restrictions. The registration process for a hostel is done alongside with admission process itself.
