Remarks

Good prospects- 1)here attendance is 75% for every subject which ensures you attend most of the classes. Thus we can say the quality of education is quite good. 2) well equipped laboratories ensure quality practical experience. 3) several clubs promote co-curricular activities like the literary club, drama club, sports clubs. 4) the building is entirely centralised air conditioned. Bad prospects- 1) some professors will be a little biased. 2) philosophy, psychology, french/german these associated subjects makes it tough to cope up with the main subjects. 3)canteen serves vegetarian food. Admission process- if you get more than 80% in boards you will get direct admission otherwise you have to sit for an entrance and interview which is very easy to clear. Dates- form filling has already started. And this will go on till the end of June and July. Reason for preferring amity- B.Sc biotechnology is very limited in Kolkata and the amount 60k/6montha.

Course Curriculum Overview

3

Biotechnology is a blooming subject. After this pandemic, this is the only subject that can grow enormously. We can expect jobs in the brewery, pharma, food, and dairy companies. After PhD, we can get jobs in research labs All the facilities are doctorates. Teaching is done with the help of a board and marker and projectors are used for detailed understanding. Almost 40 teachers are there in the biotech department and every year 250 students are enrolled (including B.Sc and B.tech) Every 4-5 months semester exam was conducted and in Between mid sem exam was conducted. External examiner comes from various other universities like Calcutta University for conducting vivas. There is a relative marking system in amity. That means your grade will definitely depend on your classmates. If you study you can pass. But if you caught cheating your exam will be cancelled (they are very strict regarding this) and the next year you can appear after paying a fine. If you fail an exam you can appear later.

Placement Experience

1.5

There is no placement after B.Sc. You cannot expect also a placement with a B.Sc degree. You have to complete your masters for placement. But if you are really good you can expect internships. Companies that hire- byjus, unacademy. My plans after getting the degree are to do the following- 2 years master in biotechnology. Internships in the academic line. Internships in industrial line

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees structure for the first 2 semesters is around 58000 per sem. That is somewhat near to 1 lakh for a year. For the next 2 year, the fees get a hike to 60000 per sem in the second year and finally 64000 in the last 2 semester. Total money- 364000. Security deposit 20000. Bus fees- 20000 for 6 months. Hike in fees- 3.4% every year. (approx). If you get 85% in boards you will get a scholarship of 25% and on above 90% of marks the scholarship increases. You have to stay at top5 in every exam to carry on with your scholarship. If you failed to attain the top 5 once also you won't get the scholarship.

Campus Life

4

In the winter season, the annual fest amiphoria is conducted. Name -amiphoria Month- December, Amity has a good library having books from all the courses. You take a book but you have to return it within 15 days otherwise you have to pay a fine. Indoor stadiums are under construction. Gyms, basketball ground etc. Clubs- drama, photography, sports, literary, culinary.

Interview Experience

4

There was an entrance test with physics chemistry maths and biology. After that, there was a personal interview where questions from related area of concerns can be asked. For this year there is a digitalised interview. Where they will ask you a question and you will have to upload the videos.

Placement Experience:

People who major in my department usually opt for masters over placement not because of this college but because overall industrial or academic opportunities are better with a pg degree. Masters from this college is not recommended as i have heard so from my seniors. Some of my seniors managed to crack competitives and secure MSc seats at great places. Training and Placement cell had a good coordinator previously but now its almost non existent. Companies do come and hire Bpharm, Mpharm and MSc candidates. Packages are below average. Only Nestle pays well. But if you do well you'll eventually climb up the corportate ladder. From the time i am here i have not heard of any BSc candidate getting placed. Most go for higher studies.

Placement Experience:

The average package offered for such roles ranges between ?2–3 LPA, while the highest package offered to a BSc student is around ?4 LPA, depending on skills and specialization. Overall, around 15–20% of BSc students get placed through campus drives, and many students rely on off-campus opportunities.

The course is very relevant as it provides us an overall knowledge of biology and not dividing it into various sections rather giving us an insight of every aspect of biology. It includes everything such as microbiology, zoology, botany, physiology, molecular biology and so on.

Completely relevant. As the college is autonomous it has its own syllabus. Which matches with the net gate jam exam syllabus. When someone came our college for seminar they strange that we know this much. Exam are quite difficult in 2 months interval.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum was well thought out as per me but there were subjects that i found absolutely unnecessary. Subjects like history evs and clc were in no way related to my course. Coming to the main subjects Design, Printing, Photography and film and Media Training were absolutely necessary for my course and whilst the faculty for some of these subjects were really bad, some were good. It is also important to mention none of these subjects actually helped us prepare for the real world. Instead internships and freelance helped us more than these subjects could ever do. Exams were held bi monthly to keep track of what we learnt and every 6 months we had our semester exams. Overall if you want to be a media professional INTERNSHIPS AND JOBS WILL HELP YOU MORE THAN A COLLEGE WILL. I am biased on this opinion as my college didnt provide me with the correct guidance and support i needed to make it in the real world.

In case of computer science department, placement is provided at the Last year of M.sc course. Many companies like Wipro, b10x, Tata visited here. Highest package ever is three lakh per annum. 20-40% of the students got placement after completing M.Sc computer science. My plan after B.sc is to pursue MCA.

Course Curriculum Overview:

* It's all about practical knowledge, we are getting from this course and another aspect is if you wants to make your career in research or lecturer then you should go for it. *No changes required in teaching methods but if college will provide hostel facilities and campus requirement drive, then it will better for candidates.
