Remarks

Overall College management was good. But they need to be little bit liberal. During my time they were little bit strict compare to other colleges. They had more restrictions. They need to improve in that. And other thing is they need to higher their standards in the research field.

Entrance Preview

I took Comed-k, Scored pretty well don't remember the scores now but my rank was 635. I was getting Information Science and Engineering brach in RV College of Engineering but then i opted for CS in PESIT. PES Institution was one of the best in karnataka, so it was quite obvious to opt for this college.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

Course Curriculum was quite good. We had electives of quite a good standards like Artificial Intelligence, Nural Networks, XML Programming Language, Principle of Programming Languages etc. Everything was good but still there was some scope to improve in the area of research.

Internships Opportunities

Yes, my college used to encourage to get internship. During 6th sem there will be companies coming to campus and recruit for internship. And if you are hard working and passionate they might convert your internship into full time too.

Placement Experience

4.5

Placement and Job Opportunities wise PESIT was is one of the best in karnataka. Best of the IT companies were coming during campus placements with good offers like Goldman Sachs, Microsoft, Yahoo, Sap Labs, Oracle etc. At the end of the year in CSE almost all of us had a job and more than 50% had more than one job.

College Events

3.5

We used to have Annual College Festival, in that many events used to be there, like fashion show, music events, dance events, concerts. We should to have sports events for all the sports like Basketball, cricket, football etc. We used to have Extended Week Day Activity every week.

Fee Structure And Facilities

During my time fee structure was similar to VTU. We had 139000 as annual fees for 4 years and around 55000 annually for hostel and mess fees. But now since it has become a deemed university they have increased the fees quite a lot. I think tution fee is more than 250000 annually and hostel fee is around 100000 annually.

Fees and Financial Aid

I don't think so there was any loan offered by college. But they used to offer scholarship to some students who got into through CET and are particularly poor. But now since it has become university they are offering scholarships on merit based too.

Campus Life

4

Campus life was good. But it was little bit kind of strict compare to other campus. Gender ratio was okay like 65:35(Male:Female). Student diversity was quite good since there were many students from outside karnataka and different parts of india. There were some international students from korea, Mangolia, Gulf Countries and Africa, USA.

Hostel Facilities

4

During my time we had 3-4 different kind of hostels. Shared rooms, single rooms. I stayed in shared room(New Block) for 1 year and then moved to international hostel which was with single room, i liked that single room hostel a lot. Options wise my college had many hostels and they all were good.

Alumni/Alumna

Senior students were very helpful during the placement. They used to tell us their stories and their interview experience. Even after they left the college they used to help all of us. There was a good alumni network. We had one website for PES Alumni network.

Exam Structure

Exam structure was good. My college was autonomous institution so we had our own exam structure, we were not following VTU. We had less exams compare to VTU. We had theory exams and Labs in each semesters, and we had Project in 7th and 8th both semesters. We had mini projects in all other semesters. It was little bit hectic but that is part of student life.

Faculty

3.5

I would rate faculty as above average. I would not say that all of them are excellent but they were quite good. Some of them were excellent and were from prestigious institutions in india and abroad like IISc, Georgia Tech etc.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Curriculum is a mix of both Computer Science and AIML which is increasingly relevant in today's world. Second year: Subjects like Mathematics for AIML, Data Structures, Stats for Data Science, Computer Networks, Third year: DBMS, ANN, ML operations Some other elevtives are also available and courses like Universal Human Values, POME, EIPR etc. Honestly, POME, EIPR, UHV should have less course credits and probably MCQ type exams (like IC and Yoga in first year). Curriculum is good and updating for applications helped along with projects. Exams are generally once in a month, 1.5 - 2 units for each subject each exam. Lab exams at the very end before CIE marks finalization. Then 2 weeks gap for Lab SEE, then 1 week gap and actual SEE's.

Placement Experience:

KSIT has an average placement rate of 70%-85% depending on the branch . CSE,ISE and ECE branches have higher placements while mechanical and civil have fewer opportunities in IT sector . Average package is about 4-6LPA . KSIT attracts many IT based recruitiers with some core companies for non -IT branches . It also provides pre-placement training, coding boot cams, aptitude tests and soft skills development . Alumni network is moderate, but students need off-campus efforts for high paying jobs
