Remarks

I have chosen to take admission in TDB college because this college is in the heart of my hometown(Raniganj) and most of my friends had taken admission in it and overall our college has a very beautiful , clean and green campus . The minimum eligibility criteria is that you must score at least 60% in your hs and class 10 boards exam and your age must be within 18 to 34. The admission form is available on the college website during the specified time period of admission. After filling and submitting it the college releases the merit list . I got selected when the merit list was released and was very happy as i am going to be a part of the college for the next 3 years.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

I have chosen this course because i want to study geology and geologists study some of society's most important problems such as energy, water and mineral resources; the environment; climate change ; and natural hazards like landslides, volcanoes , earthquakes and floods. There is current a shortage of well trained geologists and the demand is growing. The student to faculty ratio in our college is 1:30 The exams are held every month in our department as we all know geology is an important subject and you have to have in depth knowledge of all the topics covered in geology. So , the students have to take the exams seriously and have to improve their mistakes thoroughly. And if you have clear cut knowledge and have studied hard you can easily maintain a good Cgpa throughout the entire course curriculum.

Placement Experience

4.5

Generally, most of the final year students from technical and computer background with a good cgpa gets selected during the campus placements. Companies like LiC , Tcs , Zomato , Ola , etc . Visit our college for campus placements and thousands of offers are made . The highest package offered is 9 lakh per annum and the lowest package offered is 2.8 lakh per annum. When it comes to percentage , around 65-70% of the students gets a job at the time of campus placements. As i am studying geology honors and in the field of geology you have to atleast complete your msc to get a job so my plan is to complete my higher studies and get into research field or get a job .It totally depends on the situation.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees charged by our college is quite low . The total fees of your 3 years honors course is less than 10000. The fees is kept constant for almost 5 years and our university guidelines strictly opposes the hike in fees so that each and every students can get quality education with very low academic fees.

Campus Life

5

Most of the popular cultural programs are organised by our college every month and is reknowned for organising the famous Annual Program throughout the state in which award winning filmstars and high ranking personnels are invited and also our district magistrate to inaugrate and participate in the program. The college owes a seperate central library building designed to cater to the college's current and future teaching and research interests. The primary mission of the library is to support the educational program of the college by providing acces to rich physical and digital depositories of learning resourses. It has a very rich and unique collection of approximately 85000 books available for referencing or borrowing. The college has the priviledge to host the First Womens Atheletic Meet organised by Kazi Nazrul University in Feb 2016. The students took pride for being the champions in the Women's Badminton District Meet 2017 and several reknown events.

Placement Experience:

People who major in my department usually opt for masters over placement not because of this college but because overall industrial or academic opportunities are better with a pg degree. Masters from this college is not recommended as i have heard so from my seniors. Some of my seniors managed to crack competitives and secure MSc seats at great places. Training and Placement cell had a good coordinator previously but now its almost non existent. Companies do come and hire Bpharm, Mpharm and MSc candidates. Packages are below average. Only Nestle pays well. But if you do well you'll eventually climb up the corportate ladder. From the time i am here i have not heard of any BSc candidate getting placed. Most go for higher studies.

Placement Experience:

The average package offered for such roles ranges between ?2–3 LPA, while the highest package offered to a BSc student is around ?4 LPA, depending on skills and specialization. Overall, around 15–20% of BSc students get placed through campus drives, and many students rely on off-campus opportunities.

The course is very relevant as it provides us an overall knowledge of biology and not dividing it into various sections rather giving us an insight of every aspect of biology. It includes everything such as microbiology, zoology, botany, physiology, molecular biology and so on.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum was well thought out as per me but there were subjects that i found absolutely unnecessary. Subjects like history evs and clc were in no way related to my course. Coming to the main subjects Design, Printing, Photography and film and Media Training were absolutely necessary for my course and whilst the faculty for some of these subjects were really bad, some were good. It is also important to mention none of these subjects actually helped us prepare for the real world. Instead internships and freelance helped us more than these subjects could ever do. Exams were held bi monthly to keep track of what we learnt and every 6 months we had our semester exams. Overall if you want to be a media professional INTERNSHIPS AND JOBS WILL HELP YOU MORE THAN A COLLEGE WILL. I am biased on this opinion as my college didnt provide me with the correct guidance and support i needed to make it in the real world.

Placement Experience:

In case of computer science department, placement is provided at the Last year of M.sc course. Many companies like Wipro, b10x, Tata visited here. Highest package ever is three lakh per annum. 20-40% of the students got placement after completing M.Sc computer science. My plan after B.sc is to pursue MCA.

* It's all about practical knowledge, we are getting from this course and another aspect is if you wants to make your career in research or lecturer then you should go for it. *No changes required in teaching methods but if college will provide hostel facilities and campus requirement drive, then it will better for candidates.
