Remarks

I had applied to Symbiosis International (Deemed to be University). I didn't attend because I didn't clear the interview round. I had applied to St. Xavier's University, Kolkata. I chose not to attend because my current college is far better in terms of the quality of the curriculum, campus placement and faculty, comparison. No, I didn't avail any kind of quota. Normally, an interview is conducted, where the student has to answer the questions asked by the interviewers and if the interview goes well the candidate is selected. But since in the year 2020 the situation was different they had asked students to record videos answering the questions ranked, it was all done through their microsite. Also, students securing an aggregate of 80% in class 12th get direct admission. They are admitted only on the basis of their application and good grades. The admission process was pretty smooth. The questions asked were relevant to the course that ii had applied for and therefore, I could answer.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

I chose the course firstly because I had an interest in it. Secondly, I got a full scholarship for my first year. Currently, there are 6000 students and 100+ faculty members. The faculty members are highly qualified with degrees like B.Ed, M.Phil, M.sc. and B.sc. The teaching methods are very student-friendly and have a holistic approach. There are two semesters in each year with two-term papers every 5 months. The difficulty level of the term paper is moderate

Internships Opportunities

4

Internship of companies like BYJU'S, NDTV, Zomato is provided by our university. Research opportunities with professors are also provided. Certificate and letter of recommendations are provided as an outcome of the internship.

Placement Experience

4

From the 4th semester, the college starts preparing students for campus placement and they become eligible in the 5th semester. Some of the companies that visit for campus placement are Amazon, Cognizant, Deloitte, KPMG, ITC, Indigo, Swiggy etc. The highest package was 28lac in the year 2020 offered by Amazon. 90% of the students get placed every year. I plan on doing either master's in economics or an MBA.

Fees and Financial Aid

The total cost to study (3 years) is 4lac. The name of the scholarship is Admission merit scholarship. For 100% scholarship, the student should score 93% aggregate (excluding PE, fine arts etc) and above in their 12th board, for 50% the student should score 88% aggregate and above in 12the board and for 25% the student should score 80% aggregate and above in 12th board. Recently it provided financial assistance to students in actual need. The university waved off full fees for those students whose parents died due to COVID - 19. I didn't get any job on campus.

Campus Life

4.5

The annual fest is called Amiphoria, it is conducted in the month of March. Due to the pandemic, I didn't get the opportunity to visit the campus library but Amity provides an E-library where the pdf of course-related books are available. All basic amenities like clean desks and chairs, projectors relevant equipment if required for the course are available in the classrooms. My college conducted a sports meet every year in the month of September and it is called Sangathan. Many sports are encouraged on campus, some of them are basketball, volleyball, swimming, cricket, etc. There are plenty of clubs here. It is kind of mandatory for students to join one club at least. some of the clubs are event clud, E-cell, Music club, AZMIE, ALFAZ. There are publication committees as well.

Other Applied Colleges

St. Xavier's University, Kolkata | B.Sc. Economic Honours

It is a new college in comparison to Amity University, Kolkata.

Symbiosis International (Deemed University), Pune | BBA

I had not cleared the interview round.

Placement Experience:

People who major in my department usually opt for masters over placement not because of this college but because overall industrial or academic opportunities are better with a pg degree. Masters from this college is not recommended as i have heard so from my seniors. Some of my seniors managed to crack competitives and secure MSc seats at great places. Training and Placement cell had a good coordinator previously but now its almost non existent. Companies do come and hire Bpharm, Mpharm and MSc candidates. Packages are below average. Only Nestle pays well. But if you do well you'll eventually climb up the corportate ladder. From the time i am here i have not heard of any BSc candidate getting placed. Most go for higher studies.

Placement Experience:

The average package offered for such roles ranges between ?2–3 LPA, while the highest package offered to a BSc student is around ?4 LPA, depending on skills and specialization. Overall, around 15–20% of BSc students get placed through campus drives, and many students rely on off-campus opportunities.

The course is very relevant as it provides us an overall knowledge of biology and not dividing it into various sections rather giving us an insight of every aspect of biology. It includes everything such as microbiology, zoology, botany, physiology, molecular biology and so on.

Completely relevant. As the college is autonomous it has its own syllabus. Which matches with the net gate jam exam syllabus. When someone came our college for seminar they strange that we know this much. Exam are quite difficult in 2 months interval.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum was well thought out as per me but there were subjects that i found absolutely unnecessary. Subjects like history evs and clc were in no way related to my course. Coming to the main subjects Design, Printing, Photography and film and Media Training were absolutely necessary for my course and whilst the faculty for some of these subjects were really bad, some were good. It is also important to mention none of these subjects actually helped us prepare for the real world. Instead internships and freelance helped us more than these subjects could ever do. Exams were held bi monthly to keep track of what we learnt and every 6 months we had our semester exams. Overall if you want to be a media professional INTERNSHIPS AND JOBS WILL HELP YOU MORE THAN A COLLEGE WILL. I am biased on this opinion as my college didnt provide me with the correct guidance and support i needed to make it in the real world.

In case of computer science department, placement is provided at the Last year of M.sc course. Many companies like Wipro, b10x, Tata visited here. Highest package ever is three lakh per annum. 20-40% of the students got placement after completing M.Sc computer science. My plan after B.sc is to pursue MCA.

Course Curriculum Overview:

* It's all about practical knowledge, we are getting from this course and another aspect is if you wants to make your career in research or lecturer then you should go for it. *No changes required in teaching methods but if college will provide hostel facilities and campus requirement drive, then it will better for candidates.
