Remarks
I applied for L.M College of Pharmacy and Anand College of Pharmacy. My grandparents live in Anand hence I was told to study there. I am from the general category and hence didn't avail any quota for admission. For admission in the PharmD course in Anand Pharmacy college, one has to be 12th pass with a minimum percentage of 80% and above. Only those students who opted for Science or Maths in 12th can apply. Admission happens through GTU (Gujarat Technological University). And the process is quite smooth. You get admission to the college of your choices as per your marks in 12th.
Course Curriculum Overview
I have been someone who always loves to be in the hospital and with patients. Hence I chose this course. The faculty-student ratio is proportional to interactive and passionate faculty. The qualification of faculties ranges from Bachelor of Pharmacy to Masters and PhD holders. Their teaching methods are through oral theory as well as using videos. For the course of PharmD, you have the following exams per year: 3 internal theory, 2 internal practical, 1 external theory, 1 internal theory.
Internships Opportunities
As PharmD is a new course in Anand Pharmacy College, we are yet to know regarding campus placements and internship programs. But I am sure college will take care of getting good campus placements. Hence we are all anxious and excited for the same.
Placement Experience
After the completion of the entire course, you become eligible for campus placements. Sun Pharma, etc companies. But for the PharmD course as this is the 1st batch going to pass out, we are yet to know. My plans after becoming a doctor are to practise abroad or in India.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees structure is 1,60,000 Rs/- per year with additional hostel/mess fees and library charges. You can pay the fees in instalments. Once graduated you can opt to teach in the same college. Also, all the government related scholarships are applicable to the students of interest.
Campus Life
Annual day is conducted and pharmacy week is held every year. Apart from that, it is a very studious college and one week every year is given to celebrate days like retro day, Halloween day, back to school day etc. The library is well equipped with multiple copies of the same book and the latest editions are also available. there are also novels and self-help books available in the library. Amenities - projector, whiteboard and AC apart from general classroom requirements. Sports week is conducted yearly where you can compete for inter as well as intra college. Clubs include Eco club, drama club and NSS.
