Remarks

The university is well known for its business management degrees in the south India, so the reason behind applying to the university is for the quality of studies they provide. The admission process at the university are wholly merit based and anyone who scores according to their cut offs can apply for the course they want. Course Curriculum Overview

The student teacher ratio in the class differs at different times, but the faculties here are very informative and well educated with lots of knowledge. They are always there for the students whenever necessary. The academics are well enlarged for the university. The library has well equipped with volumes of books that you can refer while studying.

Internships Opportunities

The university allows internships along with study-on-campus after the completion of second semester. Companies like ZOHO corp, Jaro education, Mckinsey, Lister metropolis hires interns for their internships at different positions.

Placement Experience

The placement of the university can be rated as 7/10. Big firms like ZOHO corporations, Hexaware Technologies, Enrich and Excell, Access health care, TCS, Ecom Express gives campus placements to the students. The average package received by the students are around 180000-360000 INR. Around 39% of students get placements during the campus placement. Many students after completing their degrees opt for higher studies, some may prefer jobs abroad and others may prefer jobs.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The total fees I spent is around 180000 INR for three years excluding the hostel amenities. The university provides Merit scholarship based on the rank of the students. As the university does not provide any further allowances, however one can avail concession based on their financial and merit status.

Campus Life

The university is well known for its clubs like NSS, Youth red cross society, Rotaract club, media club, debating club, journal club, photography cl7ub, music club, fine arts club, Tamil Mandram, Literary clubs and some more. These kinds of clubs helps students like us to have a social life which is also important that is out of the syllabus. The infrastructure of the university is very nice with an academic as well as natural feel.

Hostel Facilities

The hostel provided by the university is comfortable, convenient and to be honest it is a 'home away from home'. The rooms are spacious, air conditioned as per request, free Wi-Fi facility. The hostel students can avail the usage of library from 8 in the morning till 8 PM. The hostel also provides a fully qualified medical assistant for us. Medical facilities are also available near the university at student-friendly rates. The mess and canteen facilities are quiet good, they serve nutritious meals each day with two main variant, one for vegetarian students and another is non-vegetarian students. The hostel provides laundry facility as well as well equipped gym facility with separate hostels for boys and girls.

girls to boys ratio is 1:1 is we consider all three branches with some courses with more male while other having for female.more or less the ratio is near 1:1
the most important thing for you is there is close to zero discrimination for you , whether you want to join any club or perform anything you are equivalent to students with others bachelor degree
octagon and library are the two things which are good as library is considered the biggest library among all nit's while octagon having 800 computers for students.NSO ground is also well maintained with the beautiful mig fighter jet to take cool phot

Dislikes

for first years hostel are well maintained if compared with others but don't expect much from hostel atlast this is a government college.in first year 3 to 4 person sharing room are there which was build to carry 2 person.
Quant and entrepreneur thing is not there as you might expect by seeing the nirf 9 ranking but it is not zero .they are growing clubs like profNITT and Sigma are young and they could do better
curfew timing for girls are 9 or 9:30 pm i guess be it any year. for boys ,only freshers have curfew with timing 9:30 pm.other than that any student can't step outside the college after 10 pm without the sign out form.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose this course as maths is the mother of all science and quite related to other fields so it opens a lot of door for me like mba ,mtech ,phd or any other things. this course is specifically designed for becoming teachers so keep that in mind before taking this course as they are not flexible in changing curriculum or adding something for the sake of students as of now. also you will be having more working days compared to other courses with 80 percent mandatory attendance.after first sem you will get 1 week holiday and after 2nd sem you will get 50.days holiday and after first year you can expect 20 days holiday for winters and 50 days holiday for summers. you will get a lot of time to study for exams. before ct 1 you can expect 2 months and then atleast a month for ct 2 and endsems. cons are that you don't have the right to choose minor or electives like btech students.you have to compulsory study all three science .i.e. maths , physics, chemistry.

Good MBA experience with supportive faculty and decent career opportunities.

Likes

Faculty are supportive and knowledgeable, with practical teaching methods. The MBA curriculum is useful and help students develop professional skills.
Campus life is friendly and engaging, with decent infrastructure, classrooms and facilities. More industry visits and practical exposure could improve it.
Placement support is helpful, with opportunities across different sectors. Overall, GSBM offer a good MBA experience with a balanced learning environment.

Dislikes

The college could improve industry exposure, placement support and practical training by providing more internship, workshops and regular interactions with companies.

Placement Experience:

Placements at GSBM are decent ,with student generally becoming eligible from the last semesters . Companies from sales ,marketing, finance ,HR and business devolpment sectors visit the campus .Placement opportunity and packages vary by company and student performance ,with average packages being reasonable for MBA freshers .A good percentage of students recevie placements opportunity, while stuends can also explore of -campus options .After completing my MBA ,plan to start my career in a management_related role and build my proffessional experience.

Likes

supportive and friendly faculty members provide good guidance and help students understand the subjects clearly.
The college provides a friendly campus environment with opportunities to participate in various events and activities.

Placement Experience:

The college provides placement opportunities for students and conducts placement drives with various companies.Student become eligible for campus placements in the final years, and the placement cell provides guidance through aptitude training, technical preparation and interview sessions. The opportunities are available for different roles based on students skills. After completing my degree I plan to start my in the IT field and improve my technical skills.

The library is really Awesome in every aspect.
The facilities and labs and everything needed for studies is way above the bar. Great university to actually study and research.

Dislikes

No culturals, and if there is some only secular songs
Strict rules (needed, but some are too strict)

Placement Experience:

From the sixth semester the student are eligible for placements and prominent companies such as bicon, lifecell, zoho, Thermofisher, lmt mindtree, jubilant food works, siemens, bioartha and around 2030 offers has been made os of april 2026 for my batch. the percentage of students getting placed is over 95 percent as the rest of the students have opted for higher studies like me. i plan on doing my masters abroad.

Things which i like from my college is that it has a big open auditorium in ground which donotes as OAT
We have different kinds kf trees and plants which gives us a freshness vibes
The class rooms are big and we have all new furnished benches and table

Dislikes

Canteen incharge i hate them because they sell the food at high cost
Watchman’s Punctuality i dont like it makes me irritated

They provide more placement opportunities for all the students they include the companies like TCS Accenture company, Sutherland company, Mahindra Tech company and many moree they provide placement for the students who has cleared all their arrears papers

The gender ratio is fairly close to 1:1 and it provides a proper environment for all to collaborate and interact.
Most of the faculty members are reachable.
Students usually get free by 4PM and have the remainder of the day to explore their own things.

Dislikes

More academics oriented - no room for placements on campus as such.
Unable to choose electives - have to do whatever course is available.
Infrastructurally very basic - lacks a lot of facilities.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Has a lot of new age courses like MS Excel, Python and Data Science. It prepares you fairly well for roles like Data Analyst, Financial Modelling, etc. Areas for improvement include optimising the curriculum load as per the students. Two internals (one after a month after sem starts, second a few weeks before the end sem) and the end sem. I feel the end sem is relatively easier due to the preparation we endure for the internals.

Vels University is not that bad

It's very easy to get admission in this college as the admission procedure is very simple. You can directly go to the head office, and you can contact the people sitting in the reception. They'll guide you and throughout the admission. Also, it's near to the airport, which should make a travel entry for the students who are coming from the other states. Also it is situated in a very good place. The college is situated in Pallavaram, which has various like basically everything is present there beat food beat hostels. it's a good place.
