Journey at Delhi Technological University

I applied to a number of government colleges via JOSAA and JAC after the results came out for JEE Mains and Advanced. SInce I am a general category student no quota was available for me. The admission process happens via JAC i.e., Joint Admission Counsil based on the JEE mains score after the completion of class 12th from my CBSE affiliated school. DTU specifically has a high cutoff as any other government college, there are 6-7 rounds of counselling depending on the number of seats followed by a spot round in case of vacant seats. If the cutoff is cleared you have to visit the campus for document verification which usually takes a day. After fees submission and successful document verification the date for orientation is provided wherein everything else is explained.

I chose production and industrial engineering based on the cutoff cleared. The class size is around 80 students with a designated teacher for each subject. Faculty is qualified and teachers are helpful as well as learned and the teaching methodology involves presentations along with regular classroom teaching. There are two exams in a semester the mid term after 2 to 3 months and the end terms after 4 to 5 months. The exams are moderately difficult and can be passed with basic preparation.

Internship opportunities are fairly less as compared to placements but companies visiting include microsoft, airtel, bajaj and a lot of other MNCs. However if you fail to get an internship the college provides a research with faculty as well that can be considered as a research internship it is unpaid but easy to get.

The placements begin from 7th semester and continue till 8th semester. The college visited by a lot of companies during these two semesters. If you wish to be on the software side for jobs and happen to be in a software related branch the placement is fairly easy to get. However placements for core branches like mechanical, civil, electrical are limited. The placement percentage is fairly good with and 80% rate. Highest packages can go upto 30-40 lacs and the average is around 7 lacs.

I did not avail for any scholarship or financial assistance but the option is available for other students who wish to. The college also provides financial aid for projects related to the course or any extra curricular the student wishes to perform after approval. There's a 10 percent increase in fees year on year and the amount per year is roughly 1.5 lacs

The annual cultural as well as the technical fests are grand and one the most popular in Delhi. The college provides abundant resources for technical and extra curricular activities. Course related books are generally available in the library. There are all sorts of clubs operated by students in the college music, dance, technical, drama and so on.
