You must know - my MBA experience at IIM Indore Campus

I wanted to join IIM Indore because of its brand value and recognition. Many of my seniors are MBA graduates from IIM Indore and I have heard a lot about the campus, placements and academics. For all the IIM there is a common application. So you can apply for IIM while applying for CAT. When the CAT results are released, you will receive a call based on your profile, CAT score and academic performance including 10+2. After the telephonic call you will get shortlisted for a personal Interview (PI), based on the performance in PI you will get shortlisted for admission.

In IIM Indore the courses are based on credits. If you have taken 2 credit courses you have 10 sessions and likewise. In the first term we have around 11 to 12 subjects, in the second term we have about 12 to 13 subjects. In the third term you choose a couple of electives and in fourth term it's all electives selected based on your choice. Almost all the professors are from research backgrounds and are really confident regarding the subject.

We got summer internship offers from McKinsey, PWC, BCN, Goldman sachs, LoReal, ITC and many other industry leading big companies. The stipends offered are really good. Basically we submit our updated resume to the placement committee, they forward it to the top notch companies and notify us when our profile gets shortlisted.

This year placement has not concluded yet, so I do not know the exact details. But many of my known seniors got well placed. BCC, PWC, McKinsey, Goldman Sachs, LoReal, ITC are some of the industry leading top recruiters who visit the IIM Indore campus. The average salary package INR 23,00,000 CTC

Basically ROI is really good. Compared to other IIMs, IIM Indore fees are the least. The total 2 years fees at IIM Indore is INR 16,00,000 to 17,00,000. Yes, IIM Indore offers Scholarship support. But personally I didn't avail any scholarships so I do not know what are the different categories under which scholarships are offered. Basic family financial background and academic merits are considered.

The campus is really very beautiful with a huge area and almost all the amenities are available. Social life is nice but due to current pandemic restrictions, gathering is not allowed outside the hostel. We have around 8 to 10 clubs and committees like finance club, economics club and many others. Many of the batch mates compete in the national competitions and have won many events. So there were many winners from IIM Indore.

Food is good. We get three time meals and also snacks. Hostel has all the facilities needed based on seasons. Within the hostel we have sports courts like volleyball, basketball, gym. Hostel rooms are single occupancy but washrooms are common.

Basically IIM has no GD round, There will be a Written Eligibility Test (WET) for just 20 min on a given topic. The topics are related to current affairs or abstracts. In the personal interview (PI) first they will ask you to introduce yourself and then they will pull out questions from the introduction you just gave. 60% of the interview questions will be related to your academic background. There will also be questions related to current affairs and at the end there will be extempore which is also a part of PI.
