Entrance Preview

AIEEE, i scored 42114 AIR, and get a admission though PTU counselling. Procedure : PTU follow the online counselling system, i which you are allotted seats according to your AIEEE score and Preferences (Filled by you).

Course Curriculum Overview

Our college follow the syllabus of the PTU. Our college pattern is same as PTU pattern. Course structure is not properly based on the research. Basically it covers the all parts but just over view, not in deep. Elective subjects are not given by the student choice. No freedom for student to choose the subjects according to their interest.

Internships Opportunities

Not at all, its only for the 80% above scholars(If any available). Stipend is vary from companies to companies. If you are selected for MNC they will give you around 10 to 13K.

Placement Experience

Placement for only those students who has 75% or above in overall academics. There is no place for those who was not able to perform good in 10th or 12th standard. that type of students has to face lot of problems.

Basically our college holds the cultural events instead Technical events. our college has a funds for only cultural events not for technical events. if you want to represent or organised technical event, you have spend your own funds. But there are some seminars are conducted by college for technical education, lot of students participate in it.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Expensive for General Category and good for SC category students and SIKH minority students . Only Tuition fee for the general category students is 95000-100000 Only. And there is so many other benefits for SC category and SIKH minority Students. Other state and General students can't have the benefits of those schemes.

Campus life is average. gender ratio is equal. their is lot of extracurricular activities in our college like cultural activities, technical activities. in our college, most of the student belongs to SIKH families.(SIKH dominated College). Their is no Politics and economic status in our college.

Hostel Facilities

Our college is one of old college in PUNJAB. it is established in 1956, so college infrastructure is not so good as compare to other college infrastructures. it is type of old and traditional architecture. Mess food is a good but little bit expensive.

External Expense: Rs.4000 - Rs.7000

Alumni/Alumna

Our alumni is not good as much as compare to other reputed college alumni's. If any alumni want to do something for college, there is lot of difficulties he/ she has to face from college administration.

Exam Structure

This is a Autonomous College, They has own rules for the examination process. In our college Exams pattern is according to syllabus of PTU pattern but due to Autonomous Status they set their own question paper for exams. you can say our question paper is set in our college and set by our department teachers. Exam structure is same as a PTU exam Structure.

Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College undertaken by the SGPC. This is SIKH dominated college. and 90% of faculty belongs to SIKH families. And they discriminate with other state students or Non-Turban Students. This thing is very common from level 0 to level 9(Even security guards are involved).

Exploring life at Chandigarh University

Likes

Good and modern campus infrastructure. The university is large, modern with good classrooms, labs, hostels and tec.
Most teachers are knowledgeable, supportive and explain concepts clearly.
The university provides placement drives, training sessions, career guidance and etc.

Dislikes

Large student intake. Due to high number of students, sometimes it can be difficult to get individual attention from faculty.
During peak hours, some areas of the campus can be crowded.
The quality of hostel food is not much satisfying.

Placement Experience:

Placements at Chandigarh University are generally good, with students becoming eligible for campus placements in the later semesters, dependiing on their course. Many companies visit the campus for recruitment, offering roles in IT, engineering, management and other fields. The packages vary by company and profile with some students receiving high packages while others get average entry-level offers. Placement opportunities depend on student skills, academic performance and interview preparation. After completing my degree, I plan to secure a good job in my field, gain practical experience and continue developing my technical and professional skills.

Likes

The most appreciated aspect was the quality of teaching in classroom. There were structured planning for studies and exam preparations.
The campus was peaceful and the college celebrated every cultural event very enthusiatically covering interest of students belonging from various traditional backgrounds across India.
There was wide spread interest both from students and faculty side for promoting extra cirricular activites and talent.

Dislikes

The way a student raises a complain can be improved.
To allot extra hours for extra acirricular activites.

Placement Experience:

Placements are great for tech and core domains. Alomost every students gets to sit in placement following the eligibilty critera. Many students get double placed and there is a placement policy which allows fare chances of placement to every student.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I’d rate the curriculum like 7/10 in terms of relevance and comprehensiveness — it covers all the major CSE subjects like DSA, OS, DBMS, CN, AI, ML, Cloud, Cybersecurity basics, etc., and honestly that was one of the reasons I chose this course because at least the core subjects are solid even if PTU keeps some old-school stuff in the syllabus. The curriculum does prepare you for real-world stuff, but only to a point — like, if you focus on coding labs and projects you’ll be fine for internships, but if you depend only on classroom theory then it won’t help much because industry wants hands-on skills. For higher studies also it’s okay because theory depth in subjects like OS and DBMS is decent enough. But yeah, improvements are definitely needed — some subjects feel outdated, teachers should use more practical examples, and we need more real projects instead of copy-paste lab manuals; also some faculty teach directly from slides which gets boring fast. Exams come twice per semester (sessionals) plus the final end-sem around December/May; they’re mostly easy if you write long answers, but tricky if you rely only on understanding because PTU likes theory-heavy questions. Overall, the system works, but it could be way more practical and industry-focused.

For taking admission in this college you can take admission on the basis of your board exam marks. You can get admission if you have minimum 40% marks in your board exam as well. For taking admission in CSE or IT branch you should have atleast 85% or more marks scored in your board exam. If you are from home state you might get reservation benefit. In this college 85% seats are reserved for home state students and rest 15% for other students as well as for home state.
