DTU-A sea of opportunities

I applied for GBPUAT, PEC, BIT MESRA, MMMUT, HBTU, etc, but didn't choose any of the above colleges because DTU is the nearest to my home (I live in Delhi) and is a well-reputed college. You can apply here on the basis of your jee mains marks. I had 95.67 percentile in jee mains and got a civil branch in the university. You can apply on JAC DELHI website for 4 colleges ( IGDTUW (for girls only), DTU, IIIT-D, NSUT). You need to be very careful about filling the branch and college options while applying for JAC and stay till the end of the JAC counseling. There are 6-7 rounds of counseling and you never when you'll get the preference you opted for. YOU SHOULD CHECK THE WEBSITE REGULARLY.

I'll be talking about engineering life during lockdown so... Please bear with me. Our class in the first year had 81 students. In lectures, one teacher attended to all the students, while during lab classes, our class was divided into 3 grps. Each group had 2 lab teachers (1 prof. And 1 assistant) During the lockdown, the whole exam structure was changed. The mid-sems were replaced with mte projects (to be reviewed at the end of the sem.) and the end-terms were replaced with 5 exams( 3 class tests and 2 surprise tests). Out of 3 CTs, the best 2 were considered and the best of 2 STs were considered in the result. Exams were moderately easy (well most of them).

This answer is from a Computer Science student's perspective. Companies start arriving for hiring interns in the last week of July and all major companies complete their process by August (except Adobe which comes in January) . All major companies like Amazon, Samsung, D.E.Shaw, Arcesium, Microsoft, Directi, Expedia come in August. Every company has a similar process although the topic of questions asked and number of rounds may vary

The placements were one of the main reasons I chose this college. People from IT, CSE, SE, ECE, MCE, get easily placed because there are a lot of companies visiting the campus in the placement season. People from lower branches like biotech, EP, ENE, CHE, CE, either go for higher studies (M. TECH or MBA) , or go for govt jobs (IES) and very few get campus placements. I am from civil engineering and planning to go for M. TECH in structural engineering. I might try for IES too.

I don't know the names of the scholarships, but there are scholarships for ews, and you need to apply for them separately. (check on the dtu website) I gave Rs.203000 for the first year, And, Rs. 206000 for the second year.

There hasn't been much for the campus life due to the pandemic, but if you are in a society, you get to participate in many fests organized by the societies, such as, NSS, NCC, Pratbimb, etc. The sports complex is one thing that I explored the most. There are interbranch sports events in which freshers get to participate and interact with seniors properly. There are many sports facilities including, football, cricket, tennis, basketball, volleyball, athletics, etc. THERE IS NO SWIMMING POOL AT DTU!!
