Remarks

I got admission to Osmania University through the TSEAMCET counselling process. TSEAMCET is a state level engineering entrance test conducted every year in the month of may for admissions into engineering colleges. I got a rank of 1591(OC) in TSEAMCET. I have applied to four colleges in counselling: Osmania University, JNTU, Vasavi and CBIT for programmes in CSE, ECE and CIVIL. There were two rounds of counselling at the time and I got OU CIVIL in the first round of counselling. There are certain options to check like continuing with the offer, hold and proceeding to the next round. I have proceeded to the second(last) round of counselling. In the second round, I was not promoted to my higher preference and was allotted Osmania University Civil course as in the first round. I accepted the course and the admission process in the university were simple and smooth. I had to report to the university to confirm my admission, fill the admission form and submit the required certificates.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course I pursued from OU is Bachelors in Civil Engineering. I was particularly interested in construction from the very beginning and I wanted to pursue civil engineering. The faculty in the university have their education backgrounds from IITs and all they have is a post graduate degree. All the faculty members have tremendous knowledge and are experienced not only in their field of the subject but all of civil engineering. The faculty are friendly and have many connections in the industry and can help students get internships. There are six core subjects in every semester (except in the first year) with related laboratory sessions. The labs have good equipment and resources. Every semester((total of eight semesters) has two internal assessments and ends with end semester exams(Theory and labs). The faculty provide useful insights in completing the project work. Overall the curriculum provides deeper knowledge in the field of civil engineering.

Internships Opportunities

3

The university offers internships with industry renowned companies. The faculty has many connections and help in getting internships in renowned institutions. Some of the students in my class got internships in NRSC and a survey of India. I got internship experience in the Kaleshwaram project through the university.

Placement Experience

3.5

The university has good record of placements. Many students from all departments get good placements and packages. Many software and core companies visit the campus every year in sixth, seventh or eighth semester offering jobs and internships to students. The highest package offered in year 2021 was fifteen lakhs per annum. All the placement details with number of students placed, highest package, minimum package and average package are posted on the website and the handbook. Some students plan for higher studies and faculty help students by writing letter of recommendations.

Fees and Financial Aid

Osmania University is a government associated college. The fee structure is very low and helpful to students with low income backgrounds. The fee for every year is ten thousand rupees and a security deposit of 7700 in the first year. There are different scholarships you can avail of to get fee reimbursement. There is a merit scholarship provided by the central government for students with good academic backgrounds and whose annual income is below six lakhs. One more scholarship is offered known as e-pass for economically backward students. Overall the cost to study is low. The university has a good record of placements. Many software and core companies offer jobs and internships to students. The placements start between the end of the sixth semester and the start of the seventh semester. Most of the students get placed with good packages.

Campus Life

2.5

The campus of OU is vast and all the departments are architecturally beautiful. The campus premises are scenic and there is a lot to explore in the university. There are two annual fests that happen in the university. Amusant is a cultural event organised every year on the campus with different themes. There is a technical fest(NIRMAAN for Civil department) that happens every year which is respective to the departments. It is a three day technical and cultural event that has various competitions and seminars, the stand out among all competitions is the model making competition in the civil department. There are two libraries on the campus with a vast collection of books, journals and international papers. There are not many clubs but we had a music club and ieee club. The civil department has a specific association called CEA which organises seminars with industry professionals.

Other Applied Colleges

Course Curriculum Overview:

I like that the course doesn't feel outdated. Along with the regular subjects we spend a lot of time on coding, projects, and problem solving so it feels connected to what companies actually expect. As a second year student i already feel like i am building skills that i will be able to use during internships and placements and not just preparing for semester exams

Placement Experience:

No batch has graduated yet so there's no record of placement data yet. But more than 200 students got internships. Also the unique point of NIAT is students gets internships from their 1st year itself. NIAT has connection in the industry also its unique teaching style, this allows 1st year students to get internships. Although there is no pass out batch yet, still many people got placed in good companies.

Course Curriculum Overview:

My college course curriculum is outdated .As im studying in computer science and engineering,i wpuld love to study about technological aspects and grow as a software engineering but in the course curriculam they teach my about mechanical workshops,There were no practical experience it jsut understanding the concept with theoritical part . i would love lo code but my college wastes entire time by helping with electricals, meachanical basics. i dont think is it really necessary for me understand in all the feilds they think that student should perform in all the fields as im in computer science and engineering student ,They should teach me more about coding and computer ,how it industries works and how these technology enhacning ,the arenot even explore about all these sectos they only teaching me about fundametals of all the subjects which is never useful for my studies . as i am in final year of btech i thought learning and deepdiving into computerscience and engineering subjects is more greater than learning all sector fundamentals,The area they need to improve is removing some of the oudated syllabus from their ciricullum and enhcing with the pratical experience not to teach only theoritical part. they have to teach all the areas with realtime examples. The timings of exams is very good .we do have 2 mid exams and one semester final exams for each sem and the subjects feels meduim level difficulty

Placement Experience:

The placements are comparatively more in this college, as there is more industry exposure. Students are eligible for placements from around 3-2 (3rd yr-II sem) to 4-2 (4th yr- II sem). Companies like Amazon, Cognizant, NCR often visit the campus. The highest package offered last year was 1.2 cr (International offer). Around 90% students who were eligible got placement. My plan is to get a decent package after the degree.

Students become eligible for campus placements after their 6th semester. The companies start visiting in 7th and 8th semesters. The companies are not much good and are mostly service based. So the placement statistics are also not much good. The highest placement last year was 10 lpa and the median placement was around 4.1 lpa. The placements were starting from 2.5 lpa. The better option for students is to apply for off-campus placements or start preparing for competitive exams
