Remarks
I am pursuing BCom evening studies from Panjab University, Chandigarh. I have been here for the last few months and I will give my honest review of what I felt in this time period. The eligibility criteria totally depend on the 12th class marks. There are 70 seats available for Bcom. Out of which 40 are for general category students and the rest 30 are reserved. The application form for admission is filled from the official website of Panjab University, Chandigarh. I paid 300 for an application form. Other details of fees and notices are updated on the site respectively. The first year fee for this course is 8195 and in case of late admission 3000 is charged extra. I scored 94.4 % in the 12th class which was not enough to get selected in the very first merit list. After the first list, I got my name almost after a month. So after the university uploads the first list, you need to keep checking the notice board of merit lists so that when your name comes, you don't miss a chance.
Course Curriculum Overview
I opted for commerce after the 10th. So that is the reason I am doing Bcom. The faculty overall is ok, I will say. The teachers are experienced in their respective fields but they are not student friendly. Some are good and understands the problems of their students while the others are somewhat only paying attention to the complete syllabus. Well, I am telling this only based on what I have felt in the last few months. In starting days, I used to be scared. But now it does not feel that way. As time passes one will become used to this. Every teacher s teaching method is different. The exams are conducted timely. Passing and failing all depends on the hard work one does.
Fees and Financial Aid
The course is affordable. One year fee is less than 10,000. So three years would be a max of 30 k. Apart from that every semester a student pays an examination fee which is almost 2500 or less. And if someone gets hostel allotted then a lot of cost of living in PGs is saved. Students can apply for a national Scholarship which is only given in the first semester. The forms for which are out almost around Oct - Nov.
Campus Life
Panjab University conducts a youth fest every year. Life at the campus is overall good. The library can be accessed 24/7. The classrooms are good. Students can participate in nns and other groups too.
