Remarks

College all was period when I learnt to become independent and confident adult. I learnt interacting with people from very different backgrounds. My college at that was in beginning phase but now a renowned college and very well placed with employment.

Entrance Preview

I cleared CET-PUNJAB exam for entrance to this college. I joined the college as the reputations of GNDU on National level is 5 start University. I was called in for counselling after declaration of results oft CET. I had about 1300 rank at state level.

Course Curriculum Overview

3

Course Curriculum was similar to other regional universities like PTU. It included subjects of computer, electronics and electrical subjects. It is in accordance UGC 's guidelines.

Internships Opportunities

Internship did not generate any stipend for me. I did my internship from a company in Bangalore. The year was recession in IT industry so even after being campus placed. I had to search for job after course which I got after a year.

Placement Experience

3.5

Placements and job opportunities were sufficient but not freely available. Most students were placed in IT companies like me. There were almost no placements to electronics or electrical companies.

College Events

3

College Freshers Party and Farewel Party were most enjoyable events I remember. Though there was a tech fest organised but it was mostly at the main campus of university.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee Structure was not very expensive but not low as in govt colleges. The fee was around 25k per semester which was quiet near to what govt colleges charged at that time around 15-18 K.

Fees and Financial Aid

I needed the loan at the time of joining college but college could not help me out saying I was not a regular student at that time. I then however was able to do without loan. I learnt hard way that study loan is not easy in India whatever might government say.

Campus Life

2.5

Labs are equipped average. The technology was not very advanced or modern college. Students are themselves good I would say. The college is famous mostly for It placements and computer science department. There generally no distinction on race or religion but i would say teachers are partial toward female students and they are mostly topping as far as internals are concerned.

Alumni/Alumna

I don't think there is very strong alumnus network as such. I did not receive any communication from college end. I still do though have my personal network of friends which includes mostly my seniors rather than classmates.

Exam Structure

Exams were hectic. But labs were mostly chilled out as there were not all the equipment required. Labs also consisted of more theory than practical.

Faculty

2.5

Callege was new at my time with our being only 4th batch. There were no pass out in year we joined college. Faculty was mostly temporary teachers and lecturers. The Dean (co-ordinator as they called at that time) was highly educated.

Placement Experience:

Companies start coming summer internships in the 5th and 6th semester though ,CG cuts are imposed so very less students are elgible to sit for these companies, The real placement season is 7th and 8th semester and many companies visit campus for placements. around 60 percent students got placed in the recent placement drive. The major recruiters are: Oracle, CISCO, JPMC,Deloite,IBM,ZS etc.

Placement Experience:

NITJ has a placement cell, also known as the Centre of Training and Placements(TPO office of NITJ). The placement scenes differ depending on the courses offered. The average placements are 12-14LPA in the Computer Science branch. Every year, hundreds of companies, including Pvt and govt both. PSUs like HPCL and BPCL recruit students based on merit and academic excellence.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I’d rate the curriculum like 7/10 in terms of relevance and comprehensiveness — it covers all the major CSE subjects like DSA, OS, DBMS, CN, AI, ML, Cloud, Cybersecurity basics, etc., and honestly that was one of the reasons I chose this course because at least the core subjects are solid even if PTU keeps some old-school stuff in the syllabus. The curriculum does prepare you for real-world stuff, but only to a point — like, if you focus on coding labs and projects you’ll be fine for internships, but if you depend only on classroom theory then it won’t help much because industry wants hands-on skills. For higher studies also it’s okay because theory depth in subjects like OS and DBMS is decent enough. But yeah, improvements are definitely needed — some subjects feel outdated, teachers should use more practical examples, and we need more real projects instead of copy-paste lab manuals; also some faculty teach directly from slides which gets boring fast. Exams come twice per semester (sessionals) plus the final end-sem around December/May; they’re mostly easy if you write long answers, but tricky if you rely only on understanding because PTU likes theory-heavy questions. Overall, the system works, but it could be way more practical and industry-focused.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.
