My college journey

It doesn't matter whether a college is good or bad. All colleges are good and its up to the students to utilize the college.A professor is the mentor who shows us the way. He is not the one to make us walk on that way, its the students who should realize

Previous days there was AIEEE/TANCET for admission but then the common entrance test system was removed and class 12 marks were given more weight age for admission (although still AIEEE score was still considered).Mechanical Engineering was my passion because of my deep thirst to know the actual technical working methodology involved behind a system in operation!

Course curriculum was a standard one on par with international curriculum. A total of 72 papers including 14 lab works were included in the syllabus.A total of 29 electives were there. A few electives likes :1. French Language/ German Language/ Japanese Language ( III & IV year)2. Unconventional Machining Process3. Operational Research System4. Nuclear Engineering5. Product Design and costing6. Entrepreneurship Development7. Advanced Propulsion systems8. Rapid Manufacturing Technologies9. Total Quality Management concepts10. Thermal Turbo Machines

There are many companies that visit for internships. A few of them were,Ashok Leyland, Chevrolet, Nissan Chennai, L&T Chennai, Caterpillar, V-Guard, Emerson etc.The stipend was around 10-12K.

Companies from all field came to campus. A few were:TCS, CTS, Ashok Leyland, Caterpillar, L&T, Emerson, Infosys, Wipro, SYNCOM, UTS Global, ALLIANCE etc.

Our college hosts international and national symposiums.Each and every department conducts event once a year in which an open invitation is given to every college on national basis.Special speech by great dignitaries like A.P.J.Abdul Kalam, Dr. Madhavan Nair (ISRO), Arvind Goswami (IIPM) etc were given for the motivation of student.Student chapters like ISTE,IEEE etc conducts project and presentation competitions on national and international basis.

Fee structure is feasible. Overall fees was around 80K Hostel fees was a bit more ,28K, although the hostel food and accommodation was not that worth but somehow "OK".They take additional amount in the name of exam fee, internet fee, transportation fee etc.Total makes up around 1 lakh a year including everything.

Student with 95% marks were given 80% off in tution fees.The student with distinction on the final semester are awarded with Gold medal to the first rank holder, followed by Silver to the second ranker and bronze to the third one.

The number of boys were more compared to the girls in the college. But all are treated without any bias. Every month we had a party and once a year we had an outing. We had trekking every year and interested ones were welcomed without any gender bias. The workshops on recent advances were held in the campus.

The hostels were truly a place of wonder where every room were well furnished before we entered. On our final day before we vacate the condition of the room was horrifying. Each room accommodated 4 students and very spacious with each student given a sepa

Seniors are the true friends. The is no ragging in the college but sometimes without the knowledge of professors a small "macho" type performance is given by the seniors and that strengthens the friendship with seniors. They are very helpful and very supportive.

Labs were a place of discovery for each and every student. The labs were the most chilled part of the college where each and every student gave their utmost attention.

The faculties are very helpful and supportive. They dedicate themselves and truly respects/ appreciates the hard work of a student. They give special guidance and proper training if a student approaches them at any time of the day. They give their best to
