All About L.D. College of Engineering

To take admission in my college, every student has to register under ACPC (admission council for Gujarat state ). ACPC gives 50% weightage to 12th board marks and 50% weightage to GUJCET marks. GUJCET stands for Gujarat common entrance test which is a 120 marks test consisting of 120 questions divided into 40 questions for each subject in PCM/PCB. Each correct answer gives a +1 mark and each wrong answer gives -0.25 marks while unattended questions give 0 marks. Combining these both exams ACPC gives a "Merit Rank" to each registered student. This rank basically tells you where you stand among all the students who wish to take Engineering in Gujarat. Each college and each branch has different cut-off ranks. There are 3-4 admission rounds depending upon the number of vacant seats after each round. During my admission, the final cutoff rank for the computer Engineering branch in my college was 789. If you fall under any reservation category then you may enjoy great benefits as the cutoff is low for them

Well, the course curriculum is great in my college. This is because it is a standard course prepared by GTU ( Gujarat Technological University) and approved by AICTE. So the course build-up is great for a student of any level. Also, the faculty members are supportive ( not every but most of them) in any difficulty you face. As I like computers and programming, so I decided to choose the Computer Engineering branch. Also currently the market for Computer Engineers is pretty large so we have great job opportunities in future compared to other branches. The faculty: student ratio is also pretty good in my college which is 1:20. Also all the faculties are either pursuing Ph.D. or else have completed a Master's or Ph.D. in the respective subject. We have 2 exams and 2 vivas each semester. First, we have the mid-sem exam which is conducted by the college and are moderately or easy to pass at least. After that, we have 2 vivas External and Internal. In the end, we have End Semester exam taken by the university.

Well as I am currently in 3rd semester I don't have much information about internships. But as much as I know from certain seniors, our college helps students get various internships on and off the campus during their 3rd year which are both paid and unpaid. The average stipend is about 15000 per month for a well-paid internship. The companies offering internships are TCS, TattvaSoft, e - infochips, Infosys, Wipro, etc.

Campus placements start during the 7th semester. All the students studying in the 7th semester are eligible for campus placements. Various companies like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, e-infochips, Reliance, MG, Tata, Adani, Cognizant, etc are regular recruiters from our college. In the recent placements, the highest offers were made by TCS ie 27 offers in our computer Engineering branch. Overall the highest package was 17 LPA and the average package was 6.5 LPA. In the computer Engineering branch, we have 100% placements every year, so the students don't need to worry about jobs. All they need to do is focus and try for companies offering higher packages. After I complete my degree I aim to achieve one of the highest packages offered in our college and get a well-suited job.

My college is a government college, hence there are very minimal fees here. Here the yearly fees are around 2100 rupees and the exam fees are 700-900 rupees. Also, various scholarships are given to students residing in PGs and Hostels such as MYSY (Mukhyamantri Yuva Swalamban Yojna), Digital Gujarat Scholarship, FFE scholarship, etc. If you are staying in a college hostel then your yearly hostel fees are 4000 and our college has 3 food messes which provide Lunch and Dinner at 55 rupees per thali. So for a hostel student, the minimal yearly cost is around 50000 rupees. Whereas for PG students, the cost depends on the type of PG selected ranging from 120000 per year to 200000 rupees per year. The placement ratio in the Computer Engineering branch is 100%, so yes you surely get a job here. Also, the college provides various internship opportunities for students of the 5th, 6th, and 7th sem to develop their skills for final placements.

Campus life is great at LDCE. We have all the facilities and amenities needed for perfect college life. The college has a canteen and a Nescafe for refreshments and chilling. We have many grounds and lawns where we can relax in our free time. We have a huge library that has almost all the books anyone ever needs. Also, all the classrooms are well-equipped and ventilated. For the computer Engineering branch, we have smartboards for better understanding. Every year LD has its own Techfest named Lakshya, which is like a festival of 3 days in the college. It contains various activities and events both technical and nontechnical. Also, there are various clubs in our college like NSS for social service, Prakalpa for innovation, vox populi club for photography, UPSC club for students aiming UPSC, drama club, etc. Also, almost all the sports are available here and our college's Cricket and Volleyball teams recently won the inter college tournaments too. Hence you can enjoy every sport here.
