What Students Say
Likes
- I have liked the admission process. Timely conducted and smooth process.
- The infrastructures are well maintained. There are separate blocks for different programmes.
- The faculties are supportive. They are available in time of need.
Dislikes
- The location of various colleges is devastating for students. There is no medical facilities available at such remote places.
- The hostel and mess facilities are beyond repair.
- There are not enough faculties available. If there are, there are not enough classes or labs conducted for proper knowledge.
Course Curriculum Overview
I have always wanted to be an Engineer. I have a keen interest in learning about the electronics sector deeply. There are enough faculty to manage each branch. The ratio. Of faculty to students is 1:40. The teaching method is constantly checked and changed according to the student reviews. Maximum teachers have completed their Masters from prestigious colleges. Each semester consists of six months in which we appear for two main exams. One is the mid-sem and the other is the end-sem. The exams are easy if you have been consistent throughout.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee structure includes the tuition fee, extra-curricular fee, different clubs fee, examination fee, and miscellaneous fees. It costs about 1.03L per annum. The hostel fee and mess fee are separate. I'd say, there are not enough opportunities for scholarships or campus placements, since the college is established only a few years ago. But I must say there is hope for progress because of our amazing principal and faculties.
Campus Life
Work in progress is the accurate term I'd say to explain the clubs and social life of the college. Since the college is new, clubs are formed according to the interests of students. Various functions are organized as per the student's choices. The infrastructure is great but the location is not. It's said that seasonal insects are very disturbing. There is not a single sports event or annual tech fest conducted yet. But it'll improve over time with the support of the students.
Hostel Facilities
A bed, study space, and plenty of space to arrange the necessities of students are provided in every room. Although, lockers be considered even better. There is no WiFi facility, so the students suffer so much due to network issues. The meal quality is poor so students have to opt for alternative meal options from outside the campus. The registration process is smooth but lengthy. There is a shortage of staff in the non-teaching dept. I have rented a room in the hostel but the qualities made me quit it.
Admission
The eligibility criteria are quite simple to get admission to Government Engineering College, Kaimur. It is a college to pursue B.Tech in one of the four branches provided in the college namely Civil Engineering, Electronics, and Communication Engg., Electrical Engg. and Mechanical Engg. In order to pursue Engg, the student must have opted for PCM for their 12th. There are two exams conducted for the admission process. Either one should appear in JEE Mains exam to get admitted in the first year of B.Tech. The JEE Mains rank of Bihar is responsible for admission. Or if they have pursued Diploma in any stream, they can opt for BCECE-LE to admit in the second year of B.Tech, directly. The LE form is released in April. And Mains is conducted twice a year in January and April. The official site of jee mains and bicycle is the right place to find the forms. Reservations are provided on the basis of category in both exams. It is a convenient way to take admission.
