What Students Say

Likes

Low fees. Budget friendly.College surrounding. Its just located behind the River Ganges. The college has a great ambiance
Faculties are way much nice and supporting. Whether it be academic or life related they always play a parental role.

Dislikes

College is located in the outskirts of the Varanasi. If one has to travel even to buy a common stuff, the transportation charge is what i hated the most. Not a simple grocery shop is available nearby.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

English has been my interest so I pursued this course. There are a total of 8 colleges under BHU. All the faculties in my college are Ph.D. The teaching method in our college is a schooling type. Each and every student are paid heed. Attendance is mandatory. Students with 95% above attendance are also rewarded. The exams held here are conducted by the university which conducts the exams semester-wise. The question papers are moderate. If you are a regular student, you can easily pass the exams without taking many loads.

Class Size: 88Course Fees: INR 9000 per year

Internships Opportunities

Companies like Mahindra, Mentorsity, and AirIndia have come to the campus for internships. Not sure about other companies but Mentorsity provided a stipend ranging from 1k to 2k. Mahindra - Naandi was the job placement cell And Mentorsity was the data entry one.

Fees and Financial Aid

The best thing about the college is its fees. BA Arts English cost me 30000 for the whole course. Several scholarships too are provided to encourage students. Scholarships are provided on the basis of sports activities, class performance, attendance, results, and financial status.

Campus Life

The college has got the best infrastructure. There are several clubs and cells in the college like placement cell, women's development, anti-ragging, social clubs, media clubs, and many more. Every week there are programs held where guests and speakers come not only from India but also worldwide. The library is rich with books. We have an e-library too for the facilitation of the students. Printout and xerox facility is available in the library free of cost.

Admission

BA English Hons is of 3 years. One can find the application form on the BHU official website ie. bhuonline.in . The application process usually starts in March. There are reservations in the process of selection. First, you have to fill out the application form and the fee was approximately 1200. Then there will be a common entrance exam and if you qualify for it you go for the next round which is a counseling process wherein you have to fill in your courses and college preference wise. Once you get your desired college you can lock it by paying the fees Or if you want to upgrade you can just choose the lock and upgrade option. Paid seats are also available in BHU wherein one will have to pay 10000 extra than the regular fees for the entire course.

Perspective as a VCW student

Likes

Facility and infrastructure is really good . In facility we get good internet connection e.g , talking about labs too , we get well equipped class and materials needed for the test , sometimes it may be bit defective aur old.
Teachers are the best things about this college. Course curriculum are designed in the way that you cover everything about the topic infact , sec , aec courses are also designed in students favour only .
The campus area and environment is good too , you may find the campus area small but it's really beautiful and peaceful , there is gym , canteen , ground with basketball and badminton court . You may not get the top notch facility but its not worse.

Dislikes

The first thing could be interior and mangement of washrooms. Canteen could be more better and provide more options . In summer , other than library we get no other sitting area , except the open classroom which are in tolerable in heat.
The bus management is worse too, I left the bus service because of their management.
The fests are not worse but could be organized in more better way .

Course Curriculum Overview:

I personally find the curriculum to be well made and in favour wit the students. In teaching methods , the subjects that demand practical exposure should be given tasks to be conducted on the real life situation, like the opportunity we get during internship . They should provide task like that .

Great learning environment, experienced faculty, and value for money education.

Likes

The faculty members are very supportive, highly experienced, and always ready to help students with their queries.
The course fee is extremely affordable and provides great value for money for students in this region.
The campus has a peaceful learning environment with a good gender ratio of around 1:1 for boys and girls.

Dislikes

On-campus placement opportunities are limited, and students mostly need to look for off-campus jobs.
Campus infrastructure needs modernization, including better Wi-Fi access and updated lab equipment.
More practical exposure and industry-oriented training programs should be added to the curriculum.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose this course because it covers all essential topics required for higher studies. The curriculum is detailed and helps build strong subject basics. Teaching methods are traditional, so adding more interactive sessions and skill-based learning would be a great improvement. Exams take place every semester along with internal class tests, which helps in continuous evaluation without extra stress

THE OXFORD OF THE EAST

Likes

The fees is affordable in comparison to Delhi University.
The scholarship scheme is definitely helpful for those who are economically weak.
The main campus has a central library so its quite helpful

Dislikes

The books in the central library are quite outdated
The lack of infrastructure in the affiliated colleges of AU
No merit based scholarship scheme available for the students.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I'm from humanities background so the course is quite relevant for me. The course is quite outdated however it's the same for most of the universities. the curriculum should be aligned with the competitive exams and the teaching methods should be more inclusive about the competitive exams so that the student can prepare well not only for the present course but also further upcoming exams.

Life at Vasanta college for Women!!

I also applied to DU but i couldnt get in because my CUET score wasn't as much as required. I chose VCW as it is affiliated with BHU which is one of the best universities in India For admission in my college you need to clear CUET and score good marks and then apply for counselling by the BHU samarth portal . After the counselling is done and you have got your seat you have to go for physical verification of documents to BHU in your respective departments. And then classes will start whenever college decides. Before the commencement of classes you will receive a admission letter from VCW and in that there will be a admission form and undertaking form for ragging. You have to fill both and take a print out and also pay a fees of 500 rupees online . Then next day you have to come to college and submit the admission form and undertaking and also your TC and character certificate from school . You will again have to pay 500 in cash . Then your admission process will be completed....Read More
