Remarks

The college management is also quite helpful to students and help students for all the paper work necessary for applying for various scholarships and loans.

Entrance Preview

I appeared for JEE Mains Examination for securing admission in this college and I scored 79 Marks in it. I chose this institue because it is one of the oldest institute in Maharashtra also it has became an autonomous institute in 2015. But now students need to appear MHT-CET exam for securing admission in this institute which is conducted by Maharashtra State Government.

Course Curriculum Overview

5

Since this institute has became autonomous, it enjoys the freedom to frame it's own curriculum. Hence the curriculum is designed as per industrial requirements in contrast with the outdated university syllabus. Also the course curriculum includes the syllabus of different competitive exams like GATE, IES, DRDO,etc.

Internships Opportunities

This institute provides excellent internship opportunities for students. The course curriculum demands that each and every student must compulsory pursue their internships in industry for gaining experience. Not every student gets stipend but some of them get it. Different companies related to different streams offer internships.

Placement Experience

4

The placements in this institute are absolutely decent with very good pay packages. Different multinational companies like Cognizant, TCS, Wipro, Jade Global, Principal, etc. and core companies like Tata Motors, Shapoorji Pallonji, Tech Mahindra, L&T Infotech, etc. visit the institute for campus placements. The average packages are 3.6 LPA while some companies offer packages upto 12 LPA.

College Events

4

A National Level event named Aavishkar is organized in the institute in the month of February every year. Various Technical and Non-Technical events are oragnized and students from different engineering institutes come and participate in this event.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fees stucture for Open Category is around 78000/- per year while it is different for students belong to Backward Category. For OBC/SBC/VJNT/ST students it is around 30000/- per year and SC students have 4000/- per year. Also if the students get admission under TFWS category they have fees around 50000/- per year. The fees is feasible as compared to other private engineering institutes in Maharashtra.

Fees and Financial Aid

There are various scholarships offered for economically backward students and also for those whose parents are in defense, army, etc. Also we can get Educational Loans from Nationalized Banks on demand. I have availed for EBC scholarship in which 50% of the fees is reimbursed into my bank account.

Campus Life

4

The Campus Life is also very pleasant. There is greenery in the campus. There are almost equal number of Males and Females in this institute. Apart from curriculum various extracurricular activities are organized. There are various Clubs set up by the institute like Roboclub, Divine Club, Startup Club, etc. Also some non-technical events are also organized like debates, group discussion, etc.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

The institute also provides hostel facilities for students. There is Jijau Hostel for girls with good security and nice infrastructure. Also there are hostels for boys. Different hostels are arranged for PG students and the yearly accommodation fees for hostel is around 8000/- per year. Also mess food is available with 7000/- charges per semester. There is also a Canteen which provides delicious snacks for students at reasonable price.

Alumni/Alumna

The alumni of this institute have excelled in their fields. Most of the alumni are working on higher posts in private sector as well as government sector. The institute also organize their reunion at times and they also guide the currently studying students about their career.

Exam Structure

The exam structure is quite different from University Exam Pattern. It consists of two class test each of 15 Marks and an End Semester Examination of 60 Marks while 10 Marks are allotted for Teachers Assessment. Also there are exams for Lab Courses of 50 Marks.

Admission

The procedure for securing admission in this institute is centralized. Initially we need to fill the apply for CAP round by filling forms of DTE (Directorate of Technical Education), Maharashtra and then fill our option forms of our desired colleges and then if we are eligible on based of our score then we get admission in our desired institutes thorough various CAP rounds. Also there are some institute seats also for some private colleges. But since Government College of Engineering Karad is a government college there are no such institute seats and students need to secure there admission through CAP rounds only.

Faculty

4.5

All the faculties in this institute are well qualified and well learned. They are also very helpful to students and guide them for various projects and club activities. Most of the faculties have gained Ph.D. in their respective fields. Also the student to faculty ratio is as per AICTE guidelines.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The part of the curriculum that inspired me to take up this course is definitely applied mathematics as engineering has a lot of math integrated in it and helps the student to improve his/her logic and problem solving skills which are very important in today's job market. Some areas where I'd like the syllabus to improve are NEP related subjects like PPS, Indian Knowledge System etc. These courses are not related to the major but are included because of the New Education Policy(NEP). I feel that most of these courses are a complete waste of time and can be replaced by better courses.

If no campus placement, focus on internships, networking, and job search post-graduation. After the degree, I plan to pursue a career in the field, aiming for roles in design or manufacturing.
