Remarks

HBTU has a lot of diversity, experiences and talent. The course curriculum is great and many students clear GATE and CAT exams every year. They also get awards and accolades throughout their college life and there are a lot of activities to develop students. Regarding the placements, I have seen that it is mainly the students and alumni who are greatly involved and that results in good placements for the college every year. HBTU needs more active and dedicated faculty involvement in placement activities which will make the college the best college among the colleges today. Today, HBTU has a great alumni network with pass outs from the colleges working in many firms, big and small and and benefiting the society in their own ways

Entrance Preview

HBTU now admits candidates through JEE Mains. It is one of the best government colleges in uttar pradesh and highly renowned for its heritage and history of over 95 years. One has to score high to opt for this college

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

Since HBTU is a university, it has the right to define its own course curriculum and update its subjects and courses to adjust to the changing industry trends. HBTU is known for its chemical engineering and chemical technology branches (which includes all branches which end with technology). There is a lot of research in chemical engineering and technology branches besides research in the core branches. The course curriculum includes electives in the final year of college which mandates selecting electives apart from your branch.

Internships Opportunities

All branches except computer science and engineering and Information technology branches have a mandate internship after third year. The college provides most of the internships in big firms. Having an internship provided to CSE and IT will only add a icing on cake even if it is optional

Placement Experience

3.5

There are a lot of companies visiting campus every year with the number roughly between 50-100 companies. The companies offer packages starting 3 lacs to about 10-15 lacs annually. It seems that HBTU students have a lot of potential and can go for a lot of options. In particular, CSE, IT, Chemical, Paint, Plastic and Oil branches enjoy a lot of companies coming to campus for recruitment. The potential of students can be further leveraged with even more companies coming to campus

College Events

4.5

At HBTU, there are a lot of fests going on, especially in the even semesters. Every branch has its own technical fest. There are also cultural fests by the hobby club, cultural club and literary clubs. HBTU also has a flagship quizzing event known as Requisite. They all make up to be a lot of fun and frolic with competition among students.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Being a government college, the fee is low and is feasible. The annual fee is a few thousands for hostel as well as for the college. The mess fee ranges from 1000-2000 every month. Fee for NRI students is much higher and is upwards of 3-4 lacs annually

Fees and Financial Aid

Since the fee is not high, there is no requirement of loans. Those who cannot afford the fee and have an low family annual income can apply under the fee waiver scheme where they get fee waiver from the college.

Campus Life

3

HBTU has a campus life to remember. There are a lot of signature trends and culture specific to HBTU. This is transferred from seniors to juniors every year. The amount of respect with which juniors and seniors treat each other is immense and is not found even in corporate. Gender ratio is good with about 20-25% girls in CSE branches and 10-20% girls in mechanical/civil branches. Companies who recruit from HBTU are usually gender indifferent and girls and boys from all streams get placement offers. HBTU is also involved in sports and participates in inter college sports. Students are indifferent to ethnicity, race, religion, etc.

Hostel Facilities

5

The hostels do not have rooms to accommodate all the students. First two year hostels are sharing and the next two are single room for boys while first three year hostels are sharing for girls and final year is a single room for girls. All girls are required to avail hostel facilities which are in the main campus. All boys hostels apart from first year hostels are in another campus with faculty quarters. The hostel fee is nominal and is very low. PGs can be availed next to the main campus and are also low cost. Mess food is better as the year progresses. This is to say, final year has the best food followed by third year and second year. The mess food for boys hostel mess is more delicious compared to the one for girls hostel mess

Alumni/Alumna

Having a strong alumni network is apparent owing to the 95+ year history. One can reach out to seniors and take advise from them. Both seniors and juniors are obliged and willing to help each other and the culture dictates them the same. HBTU conducts an annual alumni meet where alumni can visit the campus and meet students and their fellow colleagues. HBTU needs to have a structure for connecting alumni with juniors as there seems to be a lack of connection or proper documentation for connecting students after they pass out.

Exam Structure

Exams are hectic and you need to work hard to pass in each of them. If the teachers teach a lot of content then it is the students part to study them well and accordingly show their knowledge in the exam. Lab sessions are chilled out and are usually meant to be a practical demonstration of theoretical learning. Most lab sessions are same for each year

Admission

The admission process includes good scores in JEE mains followed by counselling and applying for various streams. Among the major streams, students opt for computer science and engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, chemical engineering, electrical engineering, electronics engineering, paint technology, plastic technology, oil technology, food technology, biochemical engineering, leather technology, etc. Post counselling, students receive admission confirmation and can join college

Faculty

3.5

Some faculty is very good and has wonderful teaching skills. Their teaching is such that being attentive in class is enough for a student further reading and revision will only enhance the learning experience. HBTU has a lot of qualified faculty, especially in chemical branches about which it is known for. Faculty for other branches are also good but the college needs to have a better student-teacher ratio

Placement Experience:

Placements are both on and off-campus based. Placements are usually common for both IT and Non-IT students, Technical or Non-Technical. Students become eligible, in their final years to pursue internships or acquire placements. Usually students from Computer Science and Engineering avail more placement opportunities. The Medical Department have more options of Employability. Companies like HCL, Byju's, Extramarks, IBM and other local companies like Stambh Power Systems, Pieinfocomm and others have arrived. But the placement ratio needs to be increased. Off-Campus Placements are more successful. Highest Package can be 8lpa CTC to average package be 2.5lpa CTC, with profiles of assistance and associates. Atleast 30% students get placed on average. My plans are based on Learning in different ways.
