As may be the case with every college or anything in India, one of the very few management issues in our college may be the time management in fests, or other programs hosted around the year.
Entrance Preview
I wrote BITSAT and scored 307. During option filling I had the options of either dual degrees in Pilani or single degrees in Goa or Hyderabad. I chose for electrical engineering during preference filling.
Course Curriculum Overview
BITS Pilani is an institute known for its outstanding academic curriculum. It not ony offers best faculty for disciplinary course, but also the humanities and other electives which are offered in abundance at the time of building up our timetable at the start of every semester.
Internships Opportunities
BITS Pilani University's best part aprt from academics, is the vast range of internship opportunities it provides its students twice in the course of 4-5 years, one summer internship and one 6 month internship with an average stipend of around 20-25k.
Placement Experience
The placement and job opportunities provided by our college is much better than most of the colleges out there. The fact that the companies are pitched by students inducted in placement division themselves, is a catch for the companies and lets them know how able the students are!
College Events
Apart from the general celebrations of various small occassions, out college hosts 3 fests in an academic year namely Pearl, Arena, Atmos which are Cultural, Sports and Technical fests respectively. There is a huge footfall of around 1-1.5k in each of the fests with great particpants as well
Fee Structure And Facilities
BITS Pilani being a private university, has a little expensive fee structure. Although the fees is high but our college makes sure that the fee is a long term investment that the parents make on their children, which have really promising returns. The fees as of today is around 1.7 lakhs per semester, and increases 0-15% every year according to inflation.
Fees and Financial Aid
Our college offers two kinds of scholarship, more of a fee waiver kind of thing namely Merit Scholarship and Merit cum Need Scholarship. All the students are eligible for the Merit scholarship, while for Merit cum Need Scholarship only those students are eligible whose household income is less than 5 lpa. There are various slabs ranging from 25%-80% scholarship on the tution fee.
Campus Life
BITS Pilani offers one of the best campus life one may expect. With the no attendance rule in place, it offers students to divert their time in other things as well providing them total freedom on their future. The crowd of the college is really diversified with people from all over the country, and since last year, from around the world as well. The gender ratio in our college is around 4:1 which is good considering the fact of it being an engineering institute.
Hostel Facilities
The best thing about the hostel facility offered by BITS Pilani University is the fact that the rooms are single occupancy. This helps the students a lot in order to maintain their routine without any disturbance from anyone else or disturbing anyone. The mess food offered is also good and better than most colleges around.
Alumni/Alumna
BITS Pilani boasts a vast alumni network, being a 60 year old institute. The senior students and alumni are a resourceful group for all the students for counseling as well as providing referrals in wide range of companies because of the fact that you may find a Bitsian in almost every single reputed companies in India or some around world as well. They also help in further studies counseling.
Exam Structure
The average class hours for week is around 25 across all branches, which is really chilled out and provides you with enough time for extracurricular activities. There are 3 sets of exams, first 2 for one hour for each exam and the last one for three hours each exam. The labs are course dependent, but on a whole balanced and not hectic at all.
Admission
I applied for BITSAT through an online form. Wrote BITSAT in the month of May and the marks were displayed right after test. The preference filling was around mid June and first iteration in early July. After a total of 5 iterations, the admission process was completed.
Faculty
BITS Pilani University boasts one of the top faculty in Indian engineering institutes. The faculty here are highly qualified from around the world, with a skillset as good as anyone out there. Every single faculty ij our college has done a PHD in their specialised subject from top colleges from India as well as around the world.
