Course Curriculum Overview

3

In my case, the reason for Choosing Software Engineering was that, in 2020, the placement stats were the best for the SE branch and the highest package of 1.2 CR was also from the SE branch. There are almost 2400 students that get admission to DTU B.Tech Every year. The faculty-to-student ratio is around 1 to 75 or 80 i.e. each faculty teaches a class of 75 to 80 students at least. The faculty for the core branches like ME, EE and Civil are mostly highly experienced Professors with a deep knowledge of their subject. But in the case of Tech branches like SE, CO and IT, most of the teachers are themselves PhD Students (who study in DTU only). Most of them are pretty average in teaching. Many of them don't even try to make a proper effort. There are only a very few teachers that actually want to teach. The exams are conducted strictly as per the schedule and it is very easy to pass the exams. Just study the imp topics told by the teacher and you are good to go.

Internships Opportunities

4

DTU provides internship opportunities to students after their 4th semester. Most of the companies that come to hire interns are for Tech roles. These companies include various tech giants like Google, amazon, Microsoft, Uber, Visa, Master Card, Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley etc. in the year 2021-22, around 70 companies came to campus to hire interns. 440 Students got an internship offer. Some of the highest stipends were offered by Sprinklr (Rs. 2lakh), Uber (1.6Lakh), Microsoft(1.25Lakh), and many others. The average stipend was 60k per month and the number of offers with a stipend of more than 50K were 247. The interns are hired to work on the same tasks and projects as the full-time employees.

Placement Experience

4.5

The students after the 4th semester are eligible for campus internships and after the 6th sem are eligible for campus placements. The companies visiting DTU for placements include all the major ones like Amazon, Google, Microsoft, Visa, Apple, and many others. In the year 2021-22, around 260 companies came and 1850+ offers were given out of which 1548 got places. The highest domestic package was given by Apple (64 LPA) and the highest international package was given by Amazon (1.09Cr) for the SDE profile. The number of offers with CTC between 10 to 20 LPA were 729 and above 20 LPA was 359. around 85% of students got placed with very good packages. My plans after getting my degree are to work as an SDE in a multi-national Software company and improve my skills to achieve great success in my Tech career in future.

Fees and Financial Aid

There is a 10% increment in fee every year policy. So each year, the Fee increases by 10%. When I got admission in 2020, my fee for 4 years was Rs. 1,90,000, Rs. 2,09,000, Rs. 2,19,000 and Rs. 2,33,000 (The fee may vary by 10-15 K as I don't remember the exact fee structure). So, overall the total fee comes out to be around 8.5 Lakhs for 4 years. There are also scholarships available for eligible and deserving candidates.

Campus Life

4.5

College life is very happening and enjoyable at DTU. There are various fests organized throughout the year. The main annual fest of DTU is called the ENGIFEST and it is organized around FEB every year. This is the 2nd biggest college fest in North India after IITD. The Tech Fest of DTU is called Invictus and is organized around the same time as Engifest. There are many competitions like coding, hacking, hackathons, etc organized in INVICTUS. The library is also very huge and has thousands of books. Hence, there is always a great availability of books and journals in the library. There are various types of classrooms, some are old and some are new. But all of them are spacious and ventilated. the facility of AC, podiums, and projectors are available in all classes. The Sports Complex of DTU is very huge. It offers all the major sports activities Both Indoor and Outdoor. There are many cultural societies for Dance, Acting, sports etc. and most of these are run by the students only.

Admission

To get Admission to a prestigious college like DTU, one has to give Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Mains and have to secure a good enough rank. To be eligible to get admission in any engineering branch in DTU, you have to get at least 60% marks in your 12th class. You have to apply for the JAC counselling i.e Joint Admission Counselling (This is only for DTU, NSUT, IIIT Delhi and IGDTUW). The application for JAC usually starts in July after both the JEE exams. You can find the application form, application fees and application dates on the official website of JAC and also you should check it daily so that you don't miss any updates. The application fee for JAC is Rs. 1500 which is not refundable. There is an 85% reservation for all Delhi candidates (candidates who have given their 12th exams from Delhi). There is also category reservation for OBC, ST, SC and EWS. The admission process is pretty simple if you follow the steps properly and be aware of all the important notifications.

Other Applied Colleges

Lovely Professional University - [LPU] | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)

I did not opt for LPU because i got selected in DTU through JEE and the placement stats were much more better in DTU than LPU.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is good. I do not feel very pressure. The course curriculum is design by GGSIPU. There is not spefific reason to choose to this course. It was my childhood dream to become computer engineer. I cant say that the curriculum prepares for real world applications because I am just second year students. The exam conducted on semester basis and its not very difficult.

Placement Experience:

Placements at Jamia Millia Islamia are not too high or too low and depend on the branch. Students can apply for placements starting from their 7th semester. Big companies like TCS, Infosys, Wipro, Accenture, and some startups come to recruit. The average salary offered is between 7 to 8 lakhs per year, but there are not many students who get higher packages. About 40 to 60 percent of students get placed. Many students also work on getting into higher studies or look for jobs outside the campus after they finish their degree.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course Curriculum for ECE in my clg is quite up to date and comprehensive, covering both core subjects and emerging areas of technology, which was a major factor in my decision to choose this branch. Course has a balanced theory with practical exposure, supported by great faculties guidance and well-maintained lab conditions. Also you get to choose the type of minor or specilaization you want to pursue after 1st year. Exams are conducted regularly after each semester, and levels are same as any engineering college would have.
