Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

I choose Electrical Engineering here because my uncle was an alumnus here 92 batch. The college is popular for its core branches - civil, electrical, and mechanical. The faculty of my branch is above average, the old faculty members have good knowledge, but the new ones are not good in theoretical as well as practical knowledge. Qualification of facilities is MTech. And some have Ph.D. as well. The method of teaching is very old, read and teach from books. No visual or presentation method here. There are 2 Mid-semester tests (MSTs) and then 1 end-semester exam.

Internships Opportunities

1.5

Internships are only there during placement time i.e. in last year only. Very few students are doing internships because of a lack of knowledge in both faculty and students. Some students themselves opt for internships off campus.

Placement Experience

2.5

In the last year i.e. 7th and 8th semester, you are eligible for campus placement. Eligibility is that you must not have any supply in any semester, and must have cleared all semesters. Companies give an average package of 4lpa, and only 2 3 companies give more than 7 LPA. Only Computer science and IT companies are good for placement. Very less core branches companies came, the company for core branches offers only 3 -4 LPA. Percentage of placement - 30% of students of total strength. My plan after my degree is to get prepared for govt job preparation.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fees here are nominal- Per semester fees are around 50000, and with the hostel- 65000 + mess bills are extra. Fee hikes are around 5% every year. Scholarships are - Fee waiver, SC/ST Quota, and every semester there are scholarships from alumni. No job opportunities in college.

Campus Life

4.5

The campus has an annual fest, where they bring singers like Sartaj, Tarsem Nassar, Ranjit Bawa, etc. It's around Feb or March. Tech Fest is also there, but I don't know much about it. There is a huge library, and every book of each semester is available in every branch. Other books are also there for book readers.

Hostel Facilities

2

There are 4 hostels in total, the 1st one is for 1st year, it is good, have separate washrooms and toilet. The 2nd one is for the 2nd year, it is less good than the 1st one. The 3rd one is for both 3rd and 4th years, it is like quarters, not good. 4th one is for girls, I don't know about that.

Admission

Eligibility of the course was either on JEE MAINS or 12th standard percentage basis. Application forms, fees, and other admission dates are on the college website- gndec.ac.in Reservation benefits are for rural area students, and also for SC/ST students, and for Gill village students. The improvement I want to see - they can have their own exam for admission for better cut-off students.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The interest in coding influenced me to choose this subject and course. The curriculum gets me ready for a 9-5 job which kind of gets hectic. The teachers could maybe schedule classes to give the students time to study what they want to and if they wish to do a course outside the university they have the time to do so rather than just going by the university curriculum
