Remarks

Life in university is quite different from college as in university I got a variety of things to deal with whereas, in college, I deal with selective topics only. The best thing is I learnt how to deal with situations systematically and after entering in GNE.

Entrance Preview

The eligibility for Guru Nanak Dev Engineering college is JEE MAIN and HSC marks. No separate exam is conducted by GNE. For general category, the cutoff is about 2 to 2.50 lakh rank in JEE MAINS. For SC category it is about 8 lakh.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

Full time Duration: 4 years Fees: 4.18 lakhs It's really good, teachers teach everything very nicely. There main focus is on the course curriculum and they teach everything about the course from A to Z. There are many practical activities provided for the better study and understanding .

Internships Opportunities

The key companies come here are TCS, Capgemini, CSC, Nagarro, etc. The average salary a student gets after their graduation is around Rs. 3.2 lakhs annually. The highest salary according to me is Rs. 5 lakhs per annum or maybe more thean that. From placement point of view, our university plays an important role as more then 80% of the students get placed in different companies after their graduation.

Placement Experience

5

Companies like Trident, Wipro, TCS recruit from Guru Nanak Dev University. The Average salary is Rs 3 to 4 lakh per year, the highest salary is Rs 9 lakh per year. About 60 % people get placed every year. The alumni network is good. However, the placement is 100% with an average salary of around 17 lakhs per annum. 100% Placements. One of the best salary figures. Companies like Amazon, Flipkart, Microsoft, HUL etc. come to the campus.

College Events

4.5

There are societies for every department. Likewise in our department we have CESS society for students. There was TechFest last year and there is Jashan festival in the whole univeristy every year in which every department participated. Right now Jashan is going on. The overall life is good. The only lag in our university is the exposure.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The course fee is Rs 70000 PA. There's a concession for SC category. No loans are needed. There are scholarships available to those that are not able to pay the fees. So an interview is conducted for this process. Its around 10% students of every class who get this scholarship and some are getting full fees concession and some are getting half fees concession.

Fees and Financial Aid

SBI,Dena Bank, HDFC Bank etc are few banks which provide loans. This college is affiliated with 6 other international universities which help You to study abroad.

Campus Life

4

Within the campus, the sports and entertainment facility include an Open Area Theatre, playing fields and jogging tracks. It has a Yogkutir and Institue of holistic health sciences. At GNE, every student has to necessarily be a part of one of the 23 clubs as well as you can also be a part of various cultural and sports events of GNE, the most famous being OJAS and SPRINT.

Hostel Facilities

4

Guru Nanak Dev Engineering has built up a total of three girls and two boys hostels comprising of several blocks. Each hostel is equipped with fully furnished rooms, dining halls, reading room and 24 hours internet labs.A stationary cum retail shop along with a hostel canteen is made available in each hostel.

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni base is all over Pan India and existing in the world throughout - with everyone involved in some or the other business venture. Quite strong networking platform it provides.

Exam Structure

There is a need to add the latest technology as well. Talking about the labs, most of them have very old equipment and need to be replaced. Only some new equipments are there and so all the students of the group use the same kit for performing experiments.

Admission

Admission will be made on the basis of All India Rank of JEE(Main)-2015 for both 85% quota for resident of Punjab and 15% quota for outside Punjab. Application for admission shall be submitted only on-line as per the admission schedule uploaded on GNDU admissions website www.gnduadmissions.org.

Faculty

4.5

The class timings at Guru Nanak Dev University are 9 am to 5 pm.No projects or assignments are given to the students. Quality of teaching is good. It provides an equal focus on classroom learning as well as non-classroom activities. The classroom courses are quite relevant from the industry perspective and it continually upgrades its curriculum in accordance with that.

Placement Experience:

Students generally become eligible for placement from 7th semester, with numerous major companies like wipro, cognizant and various tech startups visit the campus with various offers. The university sees a high percentage of students getting placed. The package are widely depending on various skill and codes. Furthermore while the highest package looks impressive on paper, the avg package remains modest for the majority of the batch. My personal plans after getting the degree focus on exploring independent entrepreneurial ventures rather than tradition corporate placement.

Placement Experience:

Placements are not that good. Although companies come, there is a lack of mass recruiters or reputed organizations. One has to grind hard here for placements. If you're a CS student, you will have to face immense competition here. As for core branches, placements are severely dry. Students gets eligible in 4th year onwards for placements. Some of recruiters here are Trident, TCS, Reliance, Sonalika and other few. Every company offers around 10-15 selected students for a job. Highest package ever was 15LPA and average is 3.2LPA. Percentage placed is only around 15% here. My plans after the degree are to apply for govt exams.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The interest in coding influenced me to choose this subject and course. The curriculum gets me ready for a 9-5 job which kind of gets hectic. The teachers could maybe schedule classes to give the students time to study what they want to and if they wish to do a course outside the university they have the time to do so rather than just going by the university curriculum
