Course Curriculum Overview

4

They have recently shut down their mechanical block on the EC campus. So the main branches are CSE and EC. One class has around 60 students. Most of the teachers in college have their Ph.D. I personally had taken admission from PESSAT. The exam itself was not that difficult. The only difficulty I faced was maths. Also dont take exams other than JEEmains lightly. They might be your admission-deciding exams.

Internships Opportunities

4

If you have good projects with wide application then you have a higher chance of getting internships. Depending on the projects you have done, the internships can be both with a stipend and without. To be honest I myself am in the first year so I am not the best person to give relevant information on this topic since I have not personally gotten any internship till now.

Placement Experience

3.5

You can expect placements and internships from the 6th semester which is the 3rd year. Amazon, SAP, Microsoft, Google. Anybody who is sincere with their work has a good opportunity at placements. The reality of 100% placement is that if you pass the minimum criteria to sit for placement you will be picked by some mass recruitment company. But if you do your work sincerely then you will be placed at a better company. So I would definitely say that the chance for decent placement is there for everyone. You should just be willing to work for it.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee structure is different for each student depending on which exam u had given for admission. For PESSAT it is around 4lakhs, for KCET 1.5lakhs, and for Management 10lakhs. The difference in fees for PESSAT and KCET students is pinching other than that hostel fees are around 1.4 lakhs. There are many types of scholarship programs for students, which is one of the strong suits of PESU. Like MRD scholarships, CNR scholarships, and distinction awards.

Campus Life

3

The fests is a part where PESU is a little weak. Plus in EC campus the hostel for 1st years is at a different location away from the college. The hostel inside the college is only for 2nd,3rd and 4th years, so the hostel synergy is low for first year. Most of the sports are available including many like badminton, basketball, etc. With the new MRD sports centre opening up hopefully it will get better. For now the only 2 badminton coursts they have are outdoor and since Bangalore weather is always windy, it is difficult to play. The library has most of the books required but it's better to get the course books early since other people also want them. There are many clubs and social groups. I am sure you will find somewhere where you will get interested.

Hostel Facilities

4

The amaatra academy hostel for 1st years is very well built. ACs are not there but trust me you will not even require them cause Bangalore weather is almost constant. The meals are good but you will sometimes find some things which dont belong in the food once in 6 months. But that happens at every mess so I dont think that should be a factor. The food quality itself is decent and has a wide variety. The cost of living in a hostel and PG are almost the same. There are many other PGs around the campus which might entice you since it is closer to college but trust me the size of the rooms is much bigger than the size of any other PG. If you are adamant about a PG then I would recommend Stanza Living as it is the only one worth even looking at. All the other rooms are too small to live in.

Admission

There are 3 options for admission. PESSAT exam- It is an exam that is taken by PESU itself. The test is online and they have centers all over the country. The general category candidates must have a minimum of 45, 5 of total marks in Class 12 or an equivalent examination. SC/ST candidates must have a minimum aggregate score of 40% for the PESSAT exam. If you take admission through PESSAT then the admission fee is somewhere around 4 lakhs. Through KCET- KCET is Karnataka Common Entrance Test. The criteria for this exam are that the candidate should have passed 12th standard with a minimum of 45% of marks in PCM and English should be one of the compulsory languages. You should also have a domicile of Karnataka or should have done your 11th and 12th from Karnataka. The fee for students who take admission through this test is around 1.5lahks which is lower than PESSAT students. And through Management- Students who can afford to pay the higher quota fees can come and take admission. The fee is around 10 lakhs.

Many top MNC's come to the college. Recently the placement opportunities has increased when compared to our batchs.Companies like TCS, Wipro, IBM, Infosys, SLK, Mphasis etc had given us the opportunity. The average package offer was 3.5lpa or 4lpa. The highest package known to me was 10lpa for a CS student not for us. The placements begins either at the end of 6th sem or in the beginning of 7th sem. Almost 60-70% of us were placed by the end of graduation but due to recession the onboarding was very late. Waited for more than a year to get onboarded.
