- I really liked the new academic building because of the amenities provided in the classrooms are superb.
- The clubs and societies are pretty good here u will learn a lot.
- Mess food is so good and also from the 2nd year onwards u have single room so chill.
Dislikes
- Fests are rarely organised because of lack of funds.
- The timing is very hectic as u have labs as well as regular classes.
- Midsem and endsem are quite tough according to me but it varies from individual to individual.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course because mechanical placements are pretty good in NIT JSR and also my rank was not fair enough to get a good branch in a better college. The faculty-student ratio is pretty good in our college and after covid period more teachers are being recruited. All the teachers are Ph.D. qualified and some have experience of teaching in IITs. Term exams are moderate if u don't study anything but if u are a consistent student it would be easy for u. Every 2 months, u have mid-sem and ends.
Internships Opportunities
Fairly speaking for the mechanical the internship opportunities are less but you may apply for off-campus internships and also doing a VT from a renowned company is a must. U have a minor project in the 2nd and 3rd year and a major project in the last year.
Placement Experience
Talking about mechanical the placements are good and after the 6th or 7th sem, u r eligible for campus placements. The major recruiter for mechanical is tata steel and tata motors. More information u can see on the LinkedIn profile of the Training and placement cell of NIT Jsr. The highest package overall is 83lpa from CSE and the average overall is around 14 lpa. About 98% of students got placed.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fees are around 104500 per year for students who are financially strong. For SC/ST the fee is 43500 per year. For students whose family income is less than 1lpa, the fee is 43500 and for those whose family income is between 1lpa- 5lpa, the fee is around 70000. Yes, there are many government scholarships available.
Campus Life
Regarding annual fests and tech fests, after the covid period till now only 2 fests have been organised successfully. No. of books and journals in the library are decent. Classroom is fully equipped with AC. It also has projector and the rooms are soundproof. Sports fest are regularly organised named URJA and u can also play Inter NIT championships. Many cultural and technical clubs are there in the college: Beatbreakers- Dance Rooh- Music Faces- Art Daksh- Atv vehicles Phoenix- Planes Invicta- Fashion and many more.
Hostel Facilities
Hostels are off course within the campus. In the first year, Hostel I is given to 2 students in 1 room. From the 2nd year onwards u get single rooms and we have Hostel K and Hostel J. These are the 2 hostels u can flex about as it's equipped with lifts. Mess food is pretty good and u have non-veg 5 times a week. Sometimes u may not like the taste but overall it's awesome.
Admission
The admission process is based on JEE Mains Rank card under JOSAA and CSAB(Special Round after JOSSA) and for mechanical the cutoff rank is as follows: General- 30000 OBC-36000 These cutoffs are for the CSAB Round 2. All the admission process is online and the rest you can visit the JOSSSA website.
