Remarks

Certainly, my College is an apt one for students to come to and pursue their dreams. They have the infrastructure in the form of labs like Ammachi Lab, HuT lab to help the students. This college can be useful to someone if he uses it to it's full potential. There are probably many who haven't seen the Library yet. It has a wide range of topics of different courses and sectors of the economy. The sports complex could really use a proper maintenance. The ones in the Sister Colleges are State of the Art. I've learnt Humility and Camaraderie, Victory and Loss, Hobbies on both sides of the spectrum. No matter what, my life at this College has changed my outlook of the World quite a bit. I've become better in a lot of small areas but the big ones still remain to be filtered.

Entrance Preview

I really didn't have much of a plan after my school life. I knew I wanted to do B.Tech but that was all. My father recommended this college and so I checked it out. It had a reputation of offering a safe and healthy environment for the students. The strict 'No-Ragging' rule was a huge plus in my book. The most enticing fact was the 100 percent placement. I didn't know the hardships of placements at the time but that last one really decided it for me and my parents' were satisfied with it as well. The Entrance Exam was done online at college in Trivandrum. While the question were much easier than those of the JEE examination, the questionnaire really gave me a run for my money. I managed to win a seat and decided on Electronics and Communication. Although it wasn't much, Networks had always fascinated me and because of that, and a number of other inconsequential reasons, I chose ECE as my B.Tech program. The "interview" was just an inquiry on my whereabouts. All that happened there was the exchange of my documents and the selection of seats. I had managed to obtain a scholarship of 50,000 with my rank.

Course Curriculum Overview

3

The First Year was focused mostly on the basics including subjects like Physics, Chemistry, C-programming and even English. I hugely appreciate their inclusion of English. While it didn't do much for the masses, the action is really something to commend the management for. Mathematics had the foundations which were used in the later semesters. The electives they offered were Humanities, which included Languages, Ancient History, and Psychology. Science electives are still a semester away but if I said to contain Astrophysics. I hate to say it, but some courses were absolutely hopeless. I appreciated ECE only when I started my fifth semester, my current one. Just yesterday, a discussion with my teacher, Mrs. Gayathri, really touched my heart with regards to how to treat my subjects. Topics that had always seemed to be bland me started to look fresh enough to eat and digest. Each semester had an at least two practical courses. Whether it was Programming, Science, Graphics, Machinery, Circuits, Digital signals, we had them all and they were really helpful in giving us the practical experience. I will never forget my time in the Engineering Drawing classes, using all those equipment to make a drawing of a particular design. We could also make use of specific labs like the HuT lab and MISR lab, to name a few. The HuT lab had conducted in all the vacations from the first semester itself. My time in one of them introduced me to Arduino, Sketch-Up, and Multiplexing. We designed and built a navigational robot as a project. Some of the students from the camp were selected to participate in the 'One Moment Robot Glory' competition held in Singapore. They managed to win some notable prizes as well. Unfortunately, my poor health forbade me from having a chance at it.

Internships Opportunities

The College had provided an internship for Raspberry pi after the first year. Unfortunately, I didn't know the importance of Internships then, and so I didn't go for it. After the second year, during the Summer vacation, I participated in an Internship by HP. The program was on Big Data and it lasted for ten days. The HuT lab and MISR lab, from my College, has also provided Internships.

Placement Experience

4.5

I have never attended a Placement program. My College holds it at the start of the fourth year. The Placement program hasn't produced a result that was expected reputed of our Institution. It could only blamed on the students who, despite being provided the necessary materials for proper preparation, didn't make much use of it. The results were pretty evident. Some of the core companies that came for recruitment were CISCO, Mu Sigma, Bosch. There were also companies like Infosys, TCS and Wipro.

College Events

3.5

For the first two years, the 'International Symposium on Education, Technology and Entrepreneurship' (ISEE), was conducted by the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) Student branch of my College. It was organized by the IEEE students of the college and they attracted students from Colleges from across South India. Robotsavam, again by IEEE, was a technical fest focused on Robotics. This one had garnered attention from all across India for all kinds of reasons, whether they be good or bad. The IEEE Student branch was too under-staffed for something of its magnitude and the College management was not keen on helping us either.

Fee Structure And Facilities

I don't know if am qualified to rate the fees structure of my college as affordable or not. It was paid on a yearly basis. For our first year, it was 1,56,000. A Lakh as tuition while the rest covered the Hostel and Mess fees. I have a scholarship of 50,000 so I had to pay only a deducted amount. There was an increase of 50,000 for the successive years. The use of the Gym and the Pool are free. An extra 400 must be paid if one has to avail the Wifi service for a period of six months. While my parents can afford the fees, I know that puts a huge dent in the family budget. By the time I finish my course, they would have shelled out 8,00,000 just for my tuition fees.

Campus Life

4

The College holds Cultural and Athletic festivals in the even semesters every year. Tournaments of anything that gives the College a good name are encouraged. I'm more of a 'sit back and relax' guy so I only participate in those that involve writing. of course, I'm a fan of sports so I engage in any kind of sports possible, never competitively though.

Hostel Facilities

3

Most of the students here live in the Hostel provided by the Management. My building consists of four floors. I live in room of four and there is ample space to carry out our daily tasks. The food provided by the management have their On and Off days. Saturdays are horrible with their awful Noodles and Macaroni.

Alumni/Alumna

The Alumni helped us get better acquainted with the workings of College life during our first year. They gave us advice on what goals to set and the means to achieve it.

Exam Structure

My College holds two Periodical examinations in a semester along with the Final exam. While it was reputed to be quite hectic, reality is quite different. We have ample time for anything, be it exam, assignment or tests. The only problem is when the tests for all the subjects are held together.

Faculty

3.5

Most of teachers are very much approachable. Our Councillor, Mr. Rahul, acts just like any regular guy if he is not giving out any orders. There were some teachers who always gave a vibe of, 'Don't Disturb Me'. Most of them though would encourage us to come to their cabin with our doubts. They even gave us advice on learning the subjects by implementing the theory in practice. If someone looks at my marks, they might really question the faculty here, but I can only blame myself for it. Even if there were misunderstood portions, we were always free to approach our teachers for guidance.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is the worst. Teachers rush through the portions so that they can finish at the earliest. It may be because the university has a unjustifiable timetable. There is very little practicals given. The ones that are given are just for namesake.

Course curriculum is under KTU syllubus do it's fine. There is a change in curriculum coming 2024 which i assume would make a lot of good changes. The curriculum gives you a head start For most of your work, you need to on your own but the faculty is there to help. The frequency of exams is weekly tests + monthly exams. Its not too difficult of an exam.

The students usually start appearing for campus placements in their 6th semester. The training for the campus placements is started for all the students from the 4th semester. Many companies visited for campus placements. But one main problem is that most of them were low packages. Around 4LPA. Some were between 4-6 and a very few between 6-10. Most of them got placed in our batch in some company.
