Course Curriculum Overview
Course is really intriguing.The Ot postings give a sneek peak into to the practical aspect of the course which is fun. Theory is also important to understand the essence of the course Postings really helps to give us the idea of how the job is. More practical approach towards theoretical basis through artificial models or skill lab will improve the course. Exams are moderately difficult, 3 sessional exams are conducted and annual exam.
Internships Opportunities
The inernship is offered in Justice KS Hegde Charitable Hospital, Derlakatte. The stipend amount is 750rs. Firstly we have to assist the OT technicians, and also the anaesthologist in the OT. Setting up the Ot, and the anaesthesia machine and some of the other skill set are taught during this internship.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fee structure during covid era was around 1.25lakh and its is increasing every year. This course will around 5 lakh if you are a hostelite and little less if you are a localite. University itself doesnot provide any scholarships but national , state level scholarships can be availed. During 6 months of internship, 750rs per month is alloted to each student. Responsibilities of the OT and to assist the anaesthetic are the major skill sets to achieve.
Campus Life
Annual interdepartmental cultural fest is held on every year in which all the paramedical departments participate. It is held around june every year. Even annual sports meet is held along with the cultural event. Central library has variety of books ,vast range of journals and question papers to refer and even thee OT department has a small library with all the books required for the subject in the curriculum.
Admission
Admission was quite simple. You can reserve your seat from the website through online mode and the college adminstration will call you back and reply about the availability of seats. This course is quite unique and intriguing. It requires a specific skill set which they teach you throughout the course. Subjects include anatomy, physiology , biochemistry, Operation theatre management in the first year, Medicine, pharmacology,Basics of anaesthesia, pathology, microbiology and thirsd year has emergency medicine,speciality anaesthesia,applied anaesthesia, biostatistics.Ot postings is a part of the curriculum which inculcates practical aspect of the course. The exams are conducted in the annual basis.
