Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum seemed a bit dated, especially as the semesters progressed. However, some improvements can be seen with the curricula of the junior batches. Industry relevant talks are held, albeit infrequently. Industrial visits are promised but you never know if or when you will be taken for one. Certain focus areas like finance are taught well and the coursework is certainly relevant in practice. Improvements that can be made are to understand the reality of current job markets and adjust the syllabus to suit that. Concepts which are rooted in century old theory need to be scrapped and a more practical approach must be taken to teach relevant concepts. Exams are not all that difficult and they hold MCQ style internals which are a bit easier to study for than if they were a full fledged written exam. Faculty are reasonably good.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees are exorbitant compared to peer colleges and institutions. However there is a scholarship program for academic performance and this recoups a sizeable amount of the fee, should a student attain it. The fees had jumped to over 2LPA in 2022 from 1.7LPA in 2020. The scholarships available for academic excellence are CNR Rao and MRD scholarships. This is a university wide undertaking and the reimbursement depends on the department the student belongs to. There is a big club culture in the university and students are often seen being busy during tests and events. The placements for BBA are quite disappointing with the department not making enough of an effort to ensure that companies with higher packages visit campus.
Campus Life
There is a big annual fest called Aatmatrisha which is a headturner. Usually held in March/ April. There are great student lounges and libraries. Sports is a more elitist setup with only the university teams mainly being allowed to make use of the equipment and fields. The gym is however well maintained and offers a membership to all students at a nominal rate. There are a lot of clubs which cater to a variety of activities and interests across the University.
Admission
The application process consisted of 2 rounds. The written SAT conducted by the university called 'PESSAT' following which there was an interview with a faculty from the department of management. The application is relatively easy to find on the official University website (PES University). The exam I took was held in late February of 2020 just before the pandemic took over the world. The university provided ample time for candidates to complete the PESSAT. The interview was semi formal with an emphasis on trying to understand the candidate's background and thought process.
